should explain...I have 3 doggies of my own in a chained link 3 acre place.
This little beagle has no home....I live in a SMALL town of 300
people...the vet is closed . {i will take him tomorrow} I let him stay on my patio I fixed him a very warm bed...all padded 7 months ago .I put on gloves and examined him{I call him Roamy} I pushed on his little tummy and he did not move.
He just kept licking his balls and his poor little wiener.
I was writing you all...because I knew you would help me.
Anything other then Ky jelly....does anyone know...I sure appreciated you honey telling me what I could do. Theses small towns are really great...but...they have nothing close by me the closet vet is 10 miles...which I will go tomorrow.I live in Arkansas.
Do you think a heating pad would help. I give him a half of my pain pill....is that bad?
Thank you again guys....thank you :-)
I am scared...I live all alone way out in the boonies. He is hurting.

First what kind of pain pill did you give him, how many milligrams and how much do you think he weighs? Hopefully you dont have another problem on your hands.

As far as his wee, you can try this home remedy but it doesnt always work, Make a a warm water and sugar (white) solution and put it in a bowl, place his little wee in it and let it soak for 5-10 mins. The sugar will help bring down the swelling sometimes, but you may need to slide his sheath back down.

Do not give him any pain pills, and try using Petroleum Jelly or even cooking oil on it to keep it moist. Also, does it look like the skin is rolled back onto the penis? Sometimes it will roll back and prevent the penis from returning into its sheath. If you can find a way to that works, keep him from licking it.

First of all, YES IT IS BAD to give your dog any pain medication made for humans! Dogs do not metabolize our medications the way we do.

If you call your vet, they should forward their calls for emergencies. I live in a small town also, and that is what my vet does. If not, call a vet in a bigger town and let them know what is going on. Really, isn't he worth the drive?

Good luck with him!

You gave him half of your pain pill? Is there an emergency vet anywhere near? If so,get him there asap or call the humane society or animal control.
