For instance, if a person is not a virgin, has a healthy sex drive, but for various reasons decides to practice abstinence + abstain from masturbation; can repressing the natural urge for sexual gratification have negative effects on the person's physical and mental well being? If so, how?

Good question. The reason is because atheism is a tool used by satan in his fight against God. People do not understand just how powerful satan really is. They still think that he will come & try to persuade people to mug someone or something like that. That is old school for him. This is a modern world & his approaches are different. Atheists are being used & dont even know it, despite the fact that all this have been predicted centuries ago. So wherever there are Christians gathering or anyone rooting for God, there will be atheists or some other opposition. Expect it & be thankful for it because it means that the site is a threat to satan, & that God is real. Dont forget too that the anti-christ is expected. So all this atheism nonsense is just the pre-cursor of the anti-christ & what is to happen as was prophesied. Okay this part is in reply to TriciaG28. Maybe some of the things u mention did happen. As with everything else, there will be unscrupulous people who will use any medium that is powerful & have the means of controlling the masses or making money to their selfish uses. Religion have been, & will always be used in this fashion. Also there will be the fanatics who will go overboard in their zest. And again there will be those who misinterpret what they read & are misguided. Everything u wrote falls under those three categories. All of them are human traits & occurs with every powerful medium there is, whether it is politics, music, movies, internet, entertainment, oil, food, aid...& religion. All of these have one thing in common. They make a lot of money & commands power. But out of all of these, religion is the only thing that keeps everyone in line. That gives everyone a conscience. For every unscrupulous person, for every fanatic who plants a bomb, there is that one person who will try to help because of his belief. Because of some passage in the Bible or the Quran. Because he was taught that it is the Godly thing to do. Not politics, not oil, not entertainment...but religion. Yes, there have been bad things done in the past by people claiming to be christians or whatever, but there have been a hundred times more atrocities done by those who are not religious. Why dont u search for them & write them down too. U wouldnt be able to stop writing.

Some people do very well when abstaining from sex. I can't see any reason at all NOT to masturbate if you have a desire for it though. It's completely normal and healthy for males and females of both sexes. No side effects, substantial short and long term mental and physical benefits in fact. I get pretty tense if I don't get sexual release (mostly through masturbation) at least every few days. In short I just can't see any reason not to do it...but it's your life. If for any reason (including religion of course) you choose not to do it...that's your choice and your right...and there ain't nothing wrong with it!
