I've had really good results with Clairol Textures and Tones when coloring my locks.. (i'm dark skin too)
my signature color for a long time was cherrywood.. Then I moved into red hott rage.. a few months ago I put a golden bronze color over the red and it gave it a real cute bronzey color..
Not quite what i'm looking for thou.. I want a caramel/taffy color to happen. I guess i'll have to go to the salon for that.

red tips would look nice, but do you wanna go lighter or darker? because you can keep your natural brown up top and get a golden, or caramel color on the tips
