Due to brain injury of 2001 I have been unable to work and have been told by my GP that my current symptoms are unlikely to change because of damaged brain nerves. It seems therefore that I will have this condition for life. My wife works full-time and earns a decent salary

You are only entitled if you qualify by how much income your wife makes. Even if you are totally disabled from this injury it doesn't qualify you for free medication. There are state guidelines that must qualify you and unless your income is below poverty level I doubt you will fall under those guideline. If you do not work since your brain injury have you applied for Social Security? Maybe you should if your Dr. feels you would qualify under these guidelines to earn some income this way. Another thing you might check out in the area you live in is to see if there is a free clinic that might be able to help you. Also talk to your Dr. and let him know if the medications are too expensive and you can't afford them, maybe he knows of a program that can help you. Good Luck.

You say your wife works and earns a decent salary. I'd think part of her benefits package is insurance so you're entitled to what they cover.

If you really want to know, contact your local social welfare and see if you can go on the dole and mooch off the tax-payers. You can also contact the drug company that supplies your meds and see if they have a free program.

Personally, no offense, but what makes you so special that you think you deserve free meds? My mom has been extremely ill and unable to work for many years and both she and my dad pay lots for all their prescriptions and they're on a very limited income. They don't get anything for free so why should you.

If you can't work full-time, perhaps you can work part-time.

No I don't think so. I was born prematurley, but received brain damage as a result of a botched operation, an operation which saved my life when I was 2 weeks old. I have spastic dipeliga and have it for life. I have never heard of free prescriptions, but t should be something the govt should think about. esp. when druggies get methadone on the NHS

I think free NHS prescriptions are based on household income. Speak to a pharmacy, they will give you a form to apply for free or discounted prescriptions.

Well, you speak well. You would have to apply with Social Security for diasability. You can also apply with Medicaid and get your prescriptions through that.

Usually it's according to your income that you get NHS coverage....under 15,050 pounds a year. I'm assuming you're in the UK

Have you ever claimed for this?

I know how horrible this is, but get a bullet proof vest and go down to your local DSS office and see what you can claim
