Just be up front with the guy. Tell him what is up.
If you don't feel you need to explain your medical history to him or if he continues to be a jerk, avoid him.
Best of luck.

Selective mutism? Hmm,your voice goes out alot?
I would make a note that 'spoke my mind'........ like "BACK OFF".
And show him.Or take a friend and tell him to back off.
I don't talk alot sometimes and people wonder whats wrong with me.So,not a big deal.Quiet is good.

First off, you should always type your question in the format of a question. It's part of the community guidelines.

Second, tell your friends about the annoying guy.

Third, if he is still bothering you, write him a polite letter and move on. It's not worth antagonizing over.

Hope that helps.

When you dont feel mute, talk to him alone and explain about selective mutism and what it is to him.

You have a mental disorder which needs behavioral therapy. A speech-language pathologist can help you work through your problem.

Even if you can explain it to this one guy, you'll continue to have this problem. Why not get the help you need? The link below should help you find a speech-language pathologist near you.

Write it down for him and give some literature or magazine articles or library references.

Also, ask your boss, your teacher, a relative, or a school official to set him straight and to get him to lay off.

His behavior is not just about ignorance, it's also about harrassment and it needs to stop.

Educate him! Place information/pamphlet in his hands next time he starts to make fun of you. He'll feel like a d**k but he'll get over it, as will you.

Who cares what he thinks. Your business and illness is your own and you don't need to share it with him just because he's making fun of you.

Ignore him and go about your life.
