because it was all GOD's will to save mankind from sins. GOD's will cannot be changed. It didn't matter what the disciples wanted or what Jesus wanted. Plus, Jesus was an obedient son and prophet, like Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses. He knew what He had to do. It was his fate to die on the cross to save us sinners. "For God so loved the world that HE gave HIS only begotten son...For GOD did not send HIS son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:16-17

GOD sent Jesus because HE made a promise to Noah,
"...the waters shall never again become a (great) flood to destroy all flesh." Genesis 9:15

As far as we know, every one of the disciples died for him. When He was alive, they did not understand and were scared, a very human emotion. After the resurrection, Peter was crucified for his beliefs and other disciples died for their beliefs. Christians willingly went to the forum to be torn apart by lions rather than deny Jesus. You have to believe that took guts.

If you will remember, Simon Peter did strike out with the sword and cut off the High Priest's servant's ear, but Jesus told him to stop and reached over and healed the ear of the servant. Jesus knew that He had to go through with the crucifixion in order to redeem mankind. BTW, every one of the disciples died a martyrs death for proclaiming the gospel. They were beheaded, burned, crucified, flayed alive, or killed with the sword and spear. If they were willing to give up their lives rather than deny Christ, I would say that they did believe in Him enough.

He told them not to. Remember when His disciple cut off the ear of one of the Roman soldiers who came to arrest Him? Jesus told him not to interfere and healed the man's ear.

Remember when Peter said he would die for Jesus and defend Him and not let anything happen to Him and Jesus said "get thee behind me Satan" because that would be interfering with God's plan?

In fact, every disciple DID die for their belief in Him. Check wikipedia and you'll see that each one was killed for their beliefs and in horrible ways.

Because that isn't what Jesus came for. When Jesus was in the Garden before his crucififtion and the guards came to take him and Peter caught the ear off of one of them with a sword Jesus rebuked him and said to be at peace.

It was prophesied that Jesus would die. They did believe in him and did try to "save" him... remember that Peter drew his sword on one of the Jesus' arresters.... Jesus, however, would not have it. He knew that HIS death was required to save all of mankind. He told Peter to put away his sword and then He healed the soldier dude whose ear was cut off. He also said that if he wanted to be rescued, he could call ten thousand legions of angels to his rescue.

Jesus WILLINGLY GAVE himself to the soldiers, and willingly gave his life up. It was all part of a bigger plan.

They did try to save Him, Jesus didn't allow it. As far as I know, all or most all of His disciples died as a direct result of their belief in Him.
