Who exactly did jesus save? Since his death we have sunk even lower into a life of robbery, murder and rape. So the death of one man negates the sins of an entire planet for millenia?

He could save himself. That would defeat the whole purpose of Him becoming a man. He died for us, so that we could live eternally with Him in Heaven.
He can save you too, all you have to do is confess that, like all men, you are a sinner, turn away from your sins, and ask Jesus to be your personal Savior. He's the only one that can save you.

He could have saved himself. That fact is he didn't so we would be saved. If he had of saved himself people would still be getting stoned to death and there would not be a heaven to the saved to after this life is over. He gave his life so we could have and a hope.I don't know about you, but knowing that this isn't all there is, is great knowing we can have no pain after suffering with pain and anger and strife and wars and all the bad stuff after we have breathed the last of this one.

Again you limit the power of God. Jesus could certainly have saved Himself if He had chosen to do so. Did He not say to Peter when being arrested, "thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and He shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?" No one took His life - He freely gave it for you so that you could have eternal life. By this very act of substituting His life in place of yours - you can be saved. Does that help?

You are under a misapprehension my friend,Jesus said clearly that no one could take His life, that He would Himself give it of His own free will to be a sacrifice that would redeem fallen mankind, had Jesus came down from the cross as the Jews taunted Him to do there would be no salvation and no church,no Heaven and certainly no hope.

Jesus could save himself, but He chose not to so that he could be a sacrifice for us-for you. He had a choice-he could leave or He could pay the price. He chose to be the ultimate sacrifice so that our sins could be forgiven.

Oh he could save himself, but he chose not to for our sake. For this reason alone proves he was stronger than anyone -- I mean to have the strength and the power not to die but, to do it anyway for the sake of the people who were killing him. This entire thing is the mystery of Salvation where in the laws of the marriage covenant come in. In our baptism, he marries us. The two will become one flesh because of this union. He dies because we die. We live because he rises from the dead. So sin is put to death in our death but, we go on from there to new life with him without sin.

Ah, but Jesus DID save himself.
He did so by maintaining his integrity toward God despite the most vicious cruel treatment one can imagine. He was resurrected to eternal, immortal life because of his faithful life course while here on earth. So he did save himself!
"Certainly, then, there occurs a setting aside of the preceding commandment on account of its weakness and ineffectiveness. For the Law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in besides of a better hope did, through which we are drawing near to God. Also, to the extent that it was not without a sworn oath, (for there are indeed men that have become priests without a sworn oath, but there is one with an oath sworn by the One who said respecting him: “Jehovah has sworn (and he will feel no regret), ‘You are a priest forever,’”) to that extent also Jesus has become the one given in pledge of a better covenant. Furthermore, many had to become priests [in succession] because of being prevented by death from continuing as such, but he because of continuing alive forever has his priesthood without any successors. Consequently he is able also to save completely those who are approaching God through him, because he is always alive to plead for them."

Jesus was not held up on the cross with those nails. He could have brought Himself down if He wanted to.But it was His love for us that held Him up there, so he could finish what He set out to do for us so we could be saved through what He went through. That is what you need to realize. He is not dead, but has risen from the dead and still lives! Praise the Lord!
John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
Mark 16:9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.
Then Jesus went up to heaven to be with His Father, God.
John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
