I have an 11 month year old Lab, my niece and nephew love her there 4yrs old and 2 yrs old, but she plays too rough with them she plays with them as if they were her littermate. Sometimes i have to confine her away from them. I dont want to, I want her to be allowed to play with them. I tried teaching her to be more nice, but it just doesnt seem to work what should i do?

tie porkchops around the kids necks, and tell them to tease the dog. That way, the dog will attack them, and there will be no problem anymore.

Are your niece and nephew coachable, so that they can help you? Kids can be super stimulating for dogs; but if you can observe them playing together and tell the kids to slow down or even to leave the room if you feel that your Lab is getting too wound up, then you've got a way to get the dog to learn that if she gets rough, the game's over. Dogs learn by repetition - if you feel safe in trying this, it will take more than once to get the message across.
Of course, if you suspect that what I've described would be unsafe in any way, then don't do it. There's a link below for stopping puppy biting positively; just substitute "rough play" for "biting" and you should be able to help your dog.

She's still a puppy and puppies have a TON of energy. She does not know how to treat humans of different ages differently. That is a slow process. When you know your niece and nephew are going to be around, play hard with her shortly before they get there. That way she will be tired and won't be apt to play so rough with them. If she does, you may just have to keep her away from the children until she matures more. Labs are great with children, but they tend to forget how big they are!

Good luck! ;-)

bear in ideas that is a toddler too, and an animal. reduce the playing to once you've time for finished interest. i'm particular that your pup would not harm them purposely regardless of the indisputable fact that, your pup does not see them for being someone. The 4 and a couple of three hundred and sixty 5 days previous are toys at their length and hence should be performed with as actual or style of as he feels that day. they gained't command appreciate till they're higher and unable to take protecting steps to guard themselves. the guideline is not in any respect leave any animal on my own with small little ones no count number how properly behaved they could be. cutting-edge comments of yet another animal (canines) rott killed an 18 month previous and injured her brother. i'm hoping this helps. solid success.

She prolly does think of them as little pups.Try having them work on commands with her(they say sit and you put her butt down)That could teach her that they are higher up on the old totem pole.Otherwise teach her not to do those things if she does it in the slightest way when she plays with you.
