human food is bad for dogs. It can cause pancreatitis, kidney, liver ,heart disease. Try canned dog food mixed with dry. Don't give up. Dogs aren't going to starve themselves, he will eat his dog food eventually if that is all the is offered to him

He shouldn't be relying on table scraps and hearts for his diet.

To get him to eat his own food, ban him from the dining room area when you are eating.

Feed him twice a day at the same time each day, but don't leave food out all day for him. Give him about 20-30 minutes to eat the food you put out for him, and then remove it.

Put some gravy or broth on the dog food to entice him to eat it.

He'll soon learn that he gets nothing by begging for food, and will have to eat when food is presented to him or he won't get to eat at all. (No dog will let itself starve to death; he'll eat his dog food when he's hungry enough.)

I think doggy is spoilt! My dog only at our food or the really expensive dog food. We gave him too much choice and then wouldn't eat the usual stuff. Dogs won't go hungry, when they're hungry they'll eat anything, try him on his proper dog food for a few days, I expect he'll give up and eat it

First off, stop giving him people food. He knows that if he doesn't eat his food he will get people food.

I would give him maybe two hearts a week, and only his dog food. Make sure you are giving him a high quality dog food (Royal Canin, Neutro etc.)

If the vet says he is healthy, then if he is hungry ,he'll eat.

i have had this problem with my king charles, my vet advised me to get a good brand food (ie purina) then starve your dog for 1 day giving him plenty of fresh water but no foods or treats for one day, then the next day offer him a small amount of purina at his regular meal time not before, give him smaller amounts upto 4 times a day instead of a larger amount twice, make sure he gets fresh water, by time he gets his food the next day its gonna taste sooo good hes never gonna turn his nose up again, dont make a habit of feeding him human food it can be unhealthy in the long run, but if you wish to give him some then mix it in well with his dog food, you have actually numbed his taste buds by feeding him so much human food the dog food taste so bland hed rather your food if he can get it so you need to start afresh by getting him hungry enough to eat anything then sticking to dog food and only occasionally adding a little human food

my staffie is 11 now and she won't touch dog food either.
people told me she would eat the dog food when she was hungry but honestly she wouldn't !! i hated it when she was going hungry so i gave in to her.
all she will now eat is chicken . i can get away with putting a hand full of dry biscuits in with it and it is quite amusing watching her pick the chicken out and avoid the biscuits, but she will nibble at the dry food over night .
good luck with it , but don't hold your breath on the dog food issue because they are just too stubborn !!!!

i hope you have taken these ppls advice and stopped feeding him your food, this is very irresponsible, when you decided to get a dog you should have known what to feed him. Hopefully its not too late and he will start eating healthy dog food, touch wood that you haven't caused irreparable damage to your dog.

My dog only wants ppl food, too, and he has to be really hungry to eat his Alpo. I don't know what his problem is, I think we've just spoiled our dogs, buddy! If I had a choice, I think I'd try to wait out the Alpo and get me some ppl food, too!
