Has anyone seen those "leashes" for kids and parents? I remember seeing them but don't know where to look for one. I don't want to loose my daughter in the airport. Help!

I know you dont want to lose your daughter in an airport, but they are no replacement for good parenting. I have seen children get into all kinds of things because the parents put the leash on and forget they have a child. The leash can be cut and the kid stolen right from under you. Bring a stroller, hold her hand, do whatever you have to do, but dont treat your child like an animal.

I bought one for my son. He didn't have a problem with running off but I was just always so worried that he'd be snatched up or something. I bought his at Walmart and it's actually really cute. It doesn't look like the average child leash. It's a little monkey backpack and you hold onto its tail. It's not a long leash which is nice.

Walmart sells the cutest little leash backpacks! I've got one thats a monkey. The "backpack" part hooks onto the child like a harness and the "leash" (tail) part hooks on where the animals tail would be and you can loop it around your wrist or hold it. They are so cute that my daughters have never minded wearing them. They usually begged to wear them lol. Heres a link to what they look like:

Also you may get responses on "how cruel" it is to put a leash on a child. But in this day and age you need to, children can disappear sooooo quickly. So just ignore the nay sayers (also I had tried the other kind of toddler leash and alway got rude comments and glares and my first daughter would throw herself on the ground because she hated it, when we switched to one of these we actually got compliments on how cute the harness was and people actually asked where they could get one and my daughter adored wearing it :)

We got one at Walmart. It is a monkey that goes on like a back pack. The monkey has a zippered pouch and the tail is the leash. Our 2 year old little boy loves it.

I think that's very wise of you to get one. I got one several years ago at Wal-Mart but since have not seen them there. Try the baby specialty stores like BabysRUs. I used to get strange looks but I tried to ignore them. Some kids are more engergetic than others and they are a wonderful way to keep your child safe. It's not cruel as some would say, cruel is not doing all you can to protect your children.

They've got them in the toddler sections in stores, normally hanging on the end of the aisles near the strollers and stuff at Wal-Mart. They're fairly cheap, but the selection is very limited. If you can't locate them yourself, you can always harass an employee. Good luck!

I typed in child safety leash on Yahoo search and got lots of hits. Below are 2 that look like they fit the bill.

Good call. It's so hard to teach kids that young not to take off ahead of you. And there are so many perverts in the world...

When mine was that little, the only place I remember seeing them was at a large chain baby store, Babys'R'Us. Of course you can find anything on the internet. Good luck!

I know what you mean. If anyone tells you not to use one, then ask them to travel with you and keep an eye on your baby! Don't sweat it honey, people judge you not matter what!

I traveled cross country without my husband with little kids and HAD to use this:

http://store.babycenter.com/product/kid+keeper+safety+harness.do?search=basic&keyword=leash&sortby=shortdesc&asc=true&page=1

Kid Keeper Safety harness $7 - worth its weight in gold!

Also consider this: I have flown from coast to coast with kids many times. Although you might think you don't need it, I would never think of flying without my youngest in his carseat! One time we checked his carseat with the luggage. Not only did they tear it up and got it filthy, we hit serious turbulance. My 18 month old son hit his head, bit his lip and bled all over everything. Had he been in a carseat attached with the airplane seatbelt he never would have budged!

The flight attendants were very nice about letting me on the plane early to get his seat set up, got him buckled in and then they offered to watch the kids so I could use the restroom!! It was great. And I tipped them generously, too.

I carried the carseat on my back in a Cheeky Monkey carrier, pushed my littlest in his stroller through the airports, and made it from coast to coast without losing a child or losing my mind.

Best of luck to you and have fun!!

p.s. There are benadryl strips that melt on the tongue. My sons pediatrician said dose them 1/2 hour before boarding. If they're underweight for a whole strip dose, cut it in half with clean dry scissors. Good luck!!

We have one for our 18 month old son. It's a monkey backpack with a tail and we got it a WalMart. It is very helpful. Our son is a very fast walker and doesn't like to hold our hands. This backpack definitely helps keep him safe.
