Absoloutley...but it is also the most rewarding job that anyone can do, to nuture another human being and make it into a happy adult, there is nothing better than having kids, whether they are your, adopted or step kids, they are a blessing!

Yes it is definitely the hardest job you can do. I have two boys aged 12, and 13 plus two girls aged 19, and 20. The boys are much harder work than the girls. But they do say the first 6 months (20 years) are the hardest. I will not be having any more children, even though they are worth all the hard work, stress, cost, and strech marks.

Yes, I totally agree with you. Have been a single mum for many years and yes its hard. Its a lot easier going to work when you can leave that behind and come home and chill, but with children its 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Dont get me wrong they are the best and loyal friends you will ever have.

To the answerer above -- it might be a privilege to have children, but it's a lot of work too. It is indeed a job, the hardest one I'll ever have. But it's also the most rewarding.

As a single mum of two children I would say that there are worse jobs out there. It is hard, but look at the rewards. Children who think you are the best thing since sliced bread!!

And remember, if they don't appreciate you right now, they will (hopefully) be parents themselves one day and realise what it is all about! I am certainly starting to realise what my parents did for me and I am truly grateful.

Yes it is the hardest because you don't get paid, nobody thanks you, you never complete the job BUT it's also the greatest job you can do and you shouldn't need any of the above. If you are struggling talk to other mums and dads you are never alone when the kids drive you to despair

Absolutely.

The hours are ridiculous, every child is different, none of them come with an instruction book, there's no set job description, you don't get paid to do it, there's no union to back you up and no-one ever says thanks when you've done a good job.

That said however, it's the most rewarding career you can embark upon and it will last you your whole lifetime.

Its not one of the hardest jobs that I have done...its more like the job that I am most devoted to, that forces accountability and responsibility. It has it's challenges, it's rewards--sometimes it's thankless--but there is never too much of a dull moment.

Yes, there is no doubt. It is however very rewarding and lots of fun. The reason it is so hard is that it is 24/7 with no sick days or holidays! Best job I have ever had.
