My kids flew just fine. I would not suggest giving your kid meds that they do not absolutely need. The best thing to do is bring a bag filled with different toys for the child. Their favorite blankie, etc.

Forget the drugs! That's a really, really bad idea....First, make sure she gets a good nights sleep the night before. Take plenty of her favorite toys, some crayons, a good book that you can read to her. Then pack some snacks and juice for her. Talk and play with her during the flight and encourage her to nap, if possible. Just don't let her run the aisles and generally be noisy and disruptive. Millions of toddlers fly all the time without having to be doped up. Make this an adventure for her and for you.

Be careful with this one.
A patient of mine just told me a story in which they had given their 7 year old an antihistimine for the first time before a plane flight. During the flight, (not his first) he had a seizure. He is okay, and they don't know why it happened, but I would suggest bringing a lot of her favorite toys, books, games, and snacks instead of medication.
Good luck to you, and I hope this helps. :)

I would not give any medicines. My son regularly flies with me, and seem to really enjoy it. I think the way you build up to it, will be very important. Just let her know it is going to be absolutely magic, a brilliant and exciting thing you are going to do! Kids don't normally have these kind of fears like the adults do.
Try to book in early, and take enough toys, snacks, drinks with for her. Settle her down early, so that you don't get all flustered trying to squeeze your way pass the other passengers and getting all worked up because you expect her to play up.
Good luck with that, I hope your trip goes well.

Don't worry about her being scared. She hasn't learned that yet and hopefully never will. Most likely, she won't get airsick either. If she does, she'll just spit up a little something (they have bags for that in the seats) and then be OK.
Take a calming herb for yourself, be calm and confident, and your little girl will be, too.
