Hi. I found a teacup Persian breeder who could sell me a cute kitty for $600. I am just worried about health and the max 5lbs the kitty would reach at maturity. Is it a good price for the kitten and if so, are there any risks? This is my first kitten. Thanks!

I would be seriously concerned about the health of such an animal as there is no such thing as "teacup" variety and any breeder that promotes such a line should be highly suspect. If they are breeding for size alone, they are probably not breeding for health. Persians already have medical problems associated with their smushed faces, I would want to make the risks any higher. I wouldnt waste your money, find a good reputable breeder through your local registry.

I had a beautiful teacup Persian for 8-10 years.... She was the sweetest cat we have ever had. She maxed out around 7 lbs. Long-haired and never shed. Always stayed little.... "regular" size adults cats look "too big" to me now. I would definitely get another one... (Plan to). When she was 8-10 years old she developed a blood disease and dropped down to 1.5 lbs before we had to put her to sleep. I have heard that the price ranges from $250 to over a thousands, depending on the max weight they predict for the cat.... the lower the max weight the more $$$ you pay.... if you are not planning on breading or showing, look for a teacup with and estimate max weight of 5-8 lbs... that will lower your price possibly.

Hello! I bought a "teacup" persian from my breeder and I was going through the same worries as you are. When I took him to the vet everything checked out. He's perfectly fine! I've had him for almost five months now (bought him when he was four months) and no problems what so ever! His coat is beautiful, he's overly playful, and he eats like a pig! I bought him for a thousand, but also for breeding purposes. If you can get one for six hundred I'd say go for it because you're not going to find one for less than a thousand! His weight is still only five pounds and even with the "smushed" face, there are no breathing, eating, weight, or attitude problems. I've got a million pictures if you're interested!

Thanks!
