It's usually a problem. A PC manufacturer's disk may look for a their logo screen or something else that proves your PC was made by them. Expect plenty of errors when these disks try to install hardware and drivers that are specific to the original configuration. Then if it finally works at all you will have a disk full of 90 day software trials and all other kinds of lameware. Better by far to install with an XP disk.

reinstllation for what? OS, software, drivers? For OS yes, you will need a diff product key though that is not used or the one that was already used for that computer that its being installed. For Software- yes, you will need a unique cd key if it asks you for one and if its a commercial product like office2k3, for games a unique key is needed if both people want to play online. For drivers yes.

not to reformat other computer to it original state they can be the same brand but it won't work
