Can we assume that logic is a human concept?

Can we assume that logic cannot prove, dispove, or discuss anything that is supernatural in origin?

Can we assume that God can only be known or 'explained' by faith?

I never said we could assume if it's not lying, it's complete truth either.

That is the scientific position. Gods and the superantural are outside of the scientific realm.

Pure logical proof, however exists only in the fields of logic and pure math. In the reality-based physical world, the lack of any empirical evidence for Gods or the supernatural does have real meaning.

No. We shouldn't be making assumptions about anything. Science or logic could certainly support or show evidence against the supernatural. So far the vast majority of the evidence has been against.

I'm a firm believer in the following :
"Faith is often the boast of the man who is too lazy to investigate." F. M. Knowles

Faith is the easy way out. It involves no thought or effort. But it means you will never learn the truth. You can use it to try to negate any intelligent argument. But it's intellectually dishonest to do so and you'll be thought an idiot. Rightly so.

"I assume god is real and am too lazy to actually think about my position or find out if I'm right." is not a valid stance in an argument and certainly doesn't stand up to logic.

But since science isn't proving what you want it to, I suppose it's to be expect you'll grasp at any straw to either discredit science, or to somehow take science out of the equation. It's called Non-Overlapping Magisteria. Or NOMA. Richard Dawkins devotes an entire chapter of his book, the God Delusion to this erroneous idea. You may find it an interesting read.

Anything that defies logic is either a lie or impossible.

For example, consider the latest car commercial... it has one driving along the edges of a building. Logic dictates (as well as the laws of physics) that this is impossible.

Logic can discuss things that are supernatural in origin, but it can also disprove things as well. For instance, logic disproves the existence of married bachelors. (There are no married bachelors by definition, the terms are mutually exclusive.)

Faith has nothing to do with logic... it is belief without proof. Without proof, you are without logic. You make the assumption in the last sentence that your God exists simply by faith, when this is not the case. You are Begging the Question... assuming what you wish to prove.

Well Doug, truth is in the eyes of the individual. No, logic is an evolutionary trait. As our brain became more complex, so did our capacity for logic. Nearly all animal species have the ability for logic. They can reason, remember places that are dangerous, and many other things that involve reason and logic.

Logic can not disprove the possibility of a creator, but the texts of many monotheistic religions make this not necessary, as the disprove themselves. Again, this does not disprove a possible creator. Actually, religions started off as polytheistic, and then evolved into their monotheistic counterparts.

Logic is not created. It is a discovered ephemerial concept. All species would discover the basic principles thereof.

Logic can address anything that can be true or false. In fact, you cannot know what is true or false without logic. Truth value is an intrinsically logical property.

Since the existence of a deity would be a fact, whether it's true or not, it is an intrinsically logical question.

You can do whatever you want. But logic and resaon have had more tangible results than faith has demonstrated. So there's the appeal right there.

And why faith in this thing or that? Why not faith in whatever idea you make up for yourself? Without the need for any kind of evidence they're just as valid.

Anything that defies logic is fallacious, or incorrect. Not a lie, a fallacious statement.

No, we cannot "assume that logic cannot prove, disprove, or discuss anything that is supernatural in origin."

Nothing is off-limits to scientific inquiry.

So all the cults in the world ARE right? L. Ron Hubbard and Joseph Smith must have been telling the truth because I'm too human to know the difference.

The 1980 US Hockey team's victory over the Soviets defied logic...but that doesn't make it a lie.

Some animals are familiar with the concept of logic also.
