I agree. Afterall, even if it were the White's faults I think repayment has been made- look at all the tax dollars we are paying to Welfare and public assistance! Geesh, quit poping out kids and get a job!
They have been re-paid... so let it go!!!

well first off, i know that somebody will bring the civil way up so i will correct that misconception first.
the civil war had nothing to do with slavery. it was about government control and state's rights. the slaves were only freed near the end because the Confederate army had asked England for help and there was the threat of the British armada looming over the union army. it was a tactical move for Lincon to free the slaves. because this kept England from fighting on the conferderate side. they could not endorse slavery. and could not fight against a country that was trying to end it. this was in the last 6 months of the war.
the confederate army had several contingent's of black men that were fighting under their own power and by their own choice. because slaves or not, the northern army was an invading force.
the civil war had nothing to do with slavery and everything to do with politics. the version that they teach in school is highly romantic, and it glorifies the darkest time in american history.
****************************************************
second, i agree that people need to get over it to some degree.
if you simply forget about it, then it can and probably will happen again. however to hold it against people that were never there, nor do thay have anything to do with slavery today is wrong.
I am Pagan and i cannot forget that the Christian church used to burn us at the stake, drown us, and torture us. but niether do i think that every christian out there is like that. same applies to slavery,

First of all I want to say that u have a right to feel the way that u feel and i respect that, but i think that it is ignorant of u to say something about a subject that u do not feel the effects of. I hate to break the news to u pretty little white girl, but even though blacks are not slaves now and haven't been for a very long time a ton of the younger black children NEED to know where they came from and how they got here. So how can u suggest black people to stop talking about it when it is a core reason why there are so many issues going on right now in the black communities.(Of course I do not expect u to know anything about) Black people do not keep the hate going its people like u who have no respect for the history of other people. If while in school, the first thing u heard about was your beginnings being a slave, u would be pretty hot about it too. And we should be mad at our families in Africa? Because "they are the ones who sold you too them". I guess we should thank them(thank you for all the bs u endured to get me where i am today) and disregard the others who were taken by force by others, and i guess we should stop talking about the civil rights movement also. If history wasn't so important we wouldn't learn about it. If u dont want to hear about it, stay in your own little bubble and do not get mad at people for talking about where they came from. Because even though we are not slaves that is how most black people ended up here. And obviously you are not around many blacks because educated blacks do not sit around talking about slavery, we have more pressing current issues in the black community to address.

im black and my origins are from ghana west africa. Even if they african americans talk about slave trade watch your mouth. Yes there has always been slave in this world but the way they were treated by people who bought them is wrong so dont go about blame your own people. Plus back during that time it was'nt all black we all stick together. You think all black people are united. If that was true would england have thought germany in the world war because if my memory serves me well they are both white. Just like in africa during that time there are civil wars and when you conquer someone you own them it not about im black your black so i cant harm you.

I agree. I've also noticed how they can get away with calling us "honkeys" and "crackers" whenever they want, but if a White person says the "N-word" even once he gets shot... or at least punched out. The word was used back in the days of slavery, defined as meaning "Black slave", yet they call each other that word all the time, so it obviously no longer means anything to do with slavery. And it is them, as well as other races, who keep racism alive simply by fearing it. Most White people I know couldn't give a damn about the colour of someone's skin or their accent, but about the person under all that. I mean yea, they're people too, but do we keep accusing them of racism like they do to us? So who are the REAL racists?

YESS ! EXACTLY ! THANK YOU DEAR LADY!
I am not prejudice. Yet I too, agree with everything you have said. It is those black people whom keep bring up the slavery past, that keep prejudizim Alive !
Whites WERE slaves as well, yet again, we do not bring it up .
If Everybody just realized that there are no skin colours. It s just a body, that is worn for each to move in this physical life, life would be peace.
We are not white, black, grey, etc, it s a body. nothing else.
What defines you is what you DO in life, not what you look like.
looking at a sandwiche doesn t make it taste good, the act of it being made, is what allowed it to taste good. and the Act of someone eating it as well.
It is the act of Present day which matters.

Well, the black people who actually get an education and make something of themselves never complain about slavery or want handouts. It is always those moochers, welfare families, poor blame the white people for all of our problems who like ot bring up slavery and try and get out of their state of living. How if they actually stop complaining and do something like get a job, get off welfare and make their childreen go to school, and stop roaming streets looking for trouble, they might actually get somewhere in life instead of blaming.
I know quite a bit of black people and the majority of them are successful, they can provide well for their families and actually earn an honest living. They are shunned by the poor black families who are followers of Al Sharpton and NAACP and love to blame everyone but themselves for their mistakes in life. As for slavery, if they look back the white people in the north helped them out, their own fellow blacks sold other blacks into slavery, too. But no, that would make sense to them and not give them edge to blame the white people for their failures.
Black History Month? It is suppose to be Civil Rights month, for all minorities and oppressed races, creeds, and sexes. But the black people took that over, in fact, do you see the day of Washington day, Lincoln Day, or Columbus day being celebrated anymore? No. That is considered "racist" because they were white, so how is right to have all black history month? When you look in the past you stay on welfare and get nowhere in life, look to the future and you actually become successful and will make your ancestors proud for doing something with your life.

Well I know a great many Blacks and other minorities. Besides Rappers, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farakhan and Al Sharpton I have never really heard about this group complaining before. I think its these few folks who raise the issue and are not letting go or trying to guilt trip the country. Its a few folks that are still fanning the racist flames. Your right let it go (to the very few) people.....

Hmm... Interesting. I think you are overeacting but your point is pretty true. Im not racist or anything though.. If you saw the Wife Swap episode with the god warrior lady the husband that was on the other family would make you pretty ticked. I do say, what a coincidence this topic being raised in Black History Month. Don't sterotype though even if it's true though. PLEASE DON't BE RACIST! You are going to get alooot of angry answers. See you in another life. I now remain neutral.

You need to find something else to complain about. You sound racist in the words you used. You could complain and go about it a different way. Its people like you that make black people still complain of their history. This is a “white mans” world and people of all races will always complain of the different kind of treatments they face everyday. You don’t really know how a black person feels until you walked in a black person’s shoes. You need to educate yourself more on how society still portrays black people. For life is still a struggle for them.

I normally don't respond to ignorant statements but I will for the sake of educating a simple minded person!! Africans were Kings and Queens and than white people came to the country to steal or nature resources such as diamonds, oil and etc.. The white man exploited them. The Africans that own slavery were not use in treated in the same light that white men use slaves!!( Get a book) African kept slaves, provided for there families. They were not mutilated, raped and robbed of there birth rite like they were when White people brought them to America!! Please you must have heard someone say or read somewhere that To know where you are going you must know where you come from. If you believe that slavery is some small part of history that you hate to hear about because it makes you uncomfortable( I'm sorry-- grow up!!) I hope you don't share this same sentiment for the Holocaust!! Grow up Read up and Shut up!!!
