I don't think the closet is the best idea. He needs exercise. Play with him.

He is still a kitten and that is how kittens act. I have one also who is eight months and hes knocked over all of my plants, ripped up my furniture, and done every wild cat thing that they do. What I have done is bought a squirt gun (a small one) and that sometimes helps. But these things are just usually kitten things that occur. I would advice getting him some toys and a scratcher with cat nip in it.
Otherwise, try to keep your stuff in the closet so he doesn't tear apart certain important things
Good luck!

A cat that becomes destructive and hyper is a bored and frustrated cat. Lockng him in the closet will just make his emotional state worse. Get him toys that he could bat and swat and run after when you're not around to play with him. Then when you comehome from school, make sure that you spend at least 20 mins in interactive play time with him. Get a laser light (don't point it directly at the cat's eyes!), a feather teaser, play mice and throw these around for him to chase. If you do this, your cat will be a lot more contented and will quit being annoying.

That's what cats do neutered or not....they PLAY!! But if it's really driving you nuts get a h2o squirt bottle. Spray him every time he tries to destroy things. My kitten is now in the habit of sticking his face in my plate while I'm eating also he grabs and bites m leg as I walk by him. The squirt bottle makes him run every time! And one of the most important things to remember is discipline. People say that cat's can not be taught like dogs...but they can I've done it! They are very intelligent animals once you get them under control. You just need to spend time with them, you wouldn't expect a dog to know everything without proper training right?? Well then cats should be held to the same standards. And don' let anyone tell you that they can't be trained :) Good Luck!

You do realize that by locking your cat in the closet, you are setting yourself up for behavioral issues. You do not want a cat with behavioral problems. If you think he's bad now, just wait. He's a kitten and he needs to play. To deter unwanted behavior, I suggest using a squirt bottle with water. When my cats were kittens and did something I did not want them to, like getting on the counter or kitchen table, I squirted them and yelled No. They got the idea. Kittens will settle down after about a year.

He is still a kitten and likes to play. Get some toys for him to play with and play with him. Give him some papers that are OK to shred and redirect his energy to things that are Ok to play with. Keep things out of reach those things you don't want damaged. Get him a scratching post and let him rip away on that - they leanr quickly to use it. Get his claws trimmed (not declawed!!!) so he'll be less likely to scratch things and will do less damage if he does.
Don't throw him in the closet - it's cruel and obviously not working.

LMAO!!! cats are like humans .. the grow in phases
from infant, to teenager, to adult, to old ... you have hit
the "terrible 2's" Cats wind down at about 2 years old
so you got a ways to go I am afraid .. Get a spray bottle
and put water in it, when you see him somewhere you
don't want him, give him a squirt! He'll learn soon enough.
Good Luck

Cats are like children. They need to be entertained. I recommend getting him something to play with perhaps a kitty jungle gym or something. They especially like those fishing rod things. Cats need exercise and attention and if he is not getting either he will drive you nuts.

Closing him up in a contained area is only gonna make him more hyper.........Get him a kitty condo that he can climb on and give him a bag or something he can tear at, youll have to clean up after him but maybe hell stay out of you stuff.....
