I have always questioned things, from the time I was very young. I was constantly in trouble with my religion teachers, the nuns and the priests for asking hard questions. I needed a better answer than "you gotta have faith" or "god works in mysterious ways". Then one day I decided that if god wanted me to believe in him, he needed to give me a sign that he is really there. Any sign. And guess what? Nothing. I was looking and looking, crying Please god, just give me any sign at all. Nothing. A bird flying past or single drop of rain would have been enough. I didn't miss it. But I did get a message and it was loud and clear. There is no god. Why would god give me the ability to question his exsistance, and then when I ask him to proove he exists, he ignores me? That is when I started to look in other directions and it felt like for the first time in my life, I found happiness. The guilt inside of me was gone! Has anyone else had an experience like this?

I totally understand your experience. Its not exactly like mine, but no one can have the same experience as anyone else. I couldnt figure out why God would be so obtuse. If he really loved people and wanted them to be happy with him, why would he not be a lot more obvious to everyone? Wouldnt revelation be to the whole world?

I too grew up questioning everything I heard in reference to the bible, and I took my questions to the bible looking for answers. I read and read and read some more and no answers came. I gave up for awhile, then I called on God to help me understand. Now when I read I do understand, not everything all at once. I learn according to the understanding God wishes for me to have. Asking fora sign to believe in Him, that doesn't work, I tried that a couple times too. I was only able to see the signs after I had put my complete trust and faith in Him. There is a gate prepared for you, but you must be willing to seek it out.

Yes, the whole shot nuns priests and all just like you described it. Right down to realizing that God probibally did not exist.
What you need to realise is that the story is not finished yet.
Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.
While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.
Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.
I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.
During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.
I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. It is as though God sees us as being as perfect as we were the day we were created. It is only in our confused idea of ourselves that we seem to have changed.
I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck. Love and blessings.
Your brother don

The Bible tells us that God has clearly revealed Himself in nature (Romans 1:20) and in the hearts of people (Ecclesiastes 3:11). The problem is that the human race is sinful; we all reject this knowledge of God and rebel against Him (Romans 1:21-23). Apart from God's grace, God would give us over to the sinful desires of our hearts, allowing us to discover how useless and miserable life is apart from Him. This He does for those who reject Him (Romans 1:24-32).
It is not that God has not revealed himself, the problem is that they have rejected what they have heard and what is readily seen in nature. Deuteronomy 4:29 proclaims, “But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.” This verse teaches an important principle: everyone who truly seeks after God will find Him. If a person truly desires to know God, God will make Himself known.
The problem is, “there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God” (Romans 3:11). People reject the knowledge of God that is present in nature and in their own heart, and instead decide to worship a “god” of their own creation.

"The guilt inside of me was gone!"
God saw you write that, is that true?
When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had arrived, they came to argue with him. Testing him to see if he was from God, they demanded, "Give us a miraculous sign from heaven to prove yourself."
When he heard this, he sighed deeply and said, "Why do you people keep demanding a miraculous sign? I assure you, I will not give this generation any such sign." So he got back into the boat and left them, and he crossed to the other side of the lake.

Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
God had already given you proof. You have no excuse for not believing.

You don't understand the concept of faith. Faith is belief without proof. If you need proof, you never had any faith to begin with. Even Christ, when tempted by Satan, refused to test God.

Actually, He has given you many signs that you decided (for whatever reasons) to ignore.
He misses you and wants you to call home. There's a call box everywhere you turn. He just wants you to call.
