I just mailed my old one in, and within two weeks, a new one arrived in the mail. But now that the new ones have a chip in them, you may have to appear at a post office that issues passports.... not all do. Give your post office a call.

you have to fill out a new form , send the old passport in with the money and 2 new photos, it is alittle less for renewal, takes about 2 to 3 weeks

it depends on its expiration date. the new rules are you cannot enter or leave the country without a valid and up to date passport. so if yours isn't then go ahead and get it done, it takes about 6 - 8 weeks and runs about 112.00 to 212.00 depends on time. just remember there may be a back log because of the new rules.

Go to the post office, right away.
You'll need lots of extra time this year, because of the new rules.
