Hey man, don't listen to all of these people. Emo hair might be silly to a portion of the population, but I understand that it is a very "in" look. I was emo when I was in high school, back when emo was still underground and mainly just people in bands knew about it.
There are two looks that you can go for. One is the retro-emo, which would make you look older and probably a little more elite, depending on where you live (east coast tends to have more retro-emo people). For this, you would need to get a "greaser" haircut (think the movie Grease) then slick your hair back with pomade and be sure to comb it often so it stays laid-down and combed back. If you are kind of a pale guy, some black Buddy Holly glasses would look best because this hairstyle seems to make guys' faces look kind of gawky and the glasses really complete the look. If you like to wear things like safety pins on your clothes, or you are the My Chemical Romance sort of emo, then this haircut and the glasses won't work well for you. You would want to wear tight jeans rolled up at the bottom and short-sleeve button-ups. You could also pull this off with short hair (about an inch to an inch and half) that you style into a faux-hawk.
If you are the safety-pin facial-piercings kind of emo, then it's a little more complicated, but at least it will be easier because this is a more mainstream look right now. Also, don't listen to anyone who says that you won't get chicks with this look. Girls are crazy about emo guys because they are more in-tune with their emotions than other guys (if you're not, just pretend that you are). Have you heard of Smosh? Those guys have really great hair and get compliments on it all of the time. I put a link to their site below.
For this kind of hairstyle, you are also going to need to have your hair cut a certain way. It is not as easy as it looks. Your hair needs to be relatively long on the sides, slightly shorter in the back and shorter in the front. If you go to get a haircut, tell the hairdresser that you want thick bangs that touch the tip of your nose (that's what you will comb to the side later). You want your sides to stay long but be thinned a little bit so they lay flat on your head. The back you can either get very short to spike it, or leave it a little bit longer and let it lay flat.
If you do go for this style, be sure to streak it with color.
Have fun!

As far as I can tell, the way for a guy to get Emo hair, is to sleep, then wake up. Out.
My recommendation is to pick another style, for your hair, as well as your clothes. We women actually prefer men who are emotionally strong, and generally happy...a sad guy, who's ready to break down at any minute is a real turn-off.

That's SUCH a gay look dude...trust me it's sooo stupid, not to mention you'll NEVER and i mean NEVER get laid if you "style" your hair like that...or if you just look like you put too much time in to it.
