Because I think I can find the answers to life by myself.

I, personally, am an agnostic. It is similar to atheism. I believe that science has pretty much debunked the existence of a higher being or God....but there are still unexplained phenomena in this world and God MAY be a possible explanation for it. If there is a God, I don't believe he/she/it has a bible, or a Koran, or any form of literature. If there is a God, I believe he'd judge my heart, and not the amount of faith I have. If he was our creator, then he obviously created us to have free will, and to be objectionable. I don't think that we should all be condemned for doing something that he created us to do. Or maybe there is no God but its a bunch of people that are already dead and your "afterlife fate" is decided upon by your peers. Who knows? Its interesting to think about. Sometimes, I'm afraid of death.....other times, I can't wait to see what awaits on the other side. It would kind of suck if it were nothing. Atheists believe that its nothing. It makes more sense than a heaven or hell, I'll give them that.

But, when it comes to punishment, of course you must talk of hell also. I believe that if there is a God and a Devil, and if bad deeds must be punished, then they should be punished....but not for eternity. I mean, you don't chop someone's arm off just because they stole your pencil. I think that if there is a punishment, then you are punished until you learn your lesson. I also think that if there is a hell, then its not fire and brimstone and burning, blah blah blah. I think it would be all of your worst fears all put into one. For me, my hell would be: me locked in a pitch-black, cold room...covered in spiders, scorpions, and zombies. Yup.....

I also believe that reincarnation is a definite possibility. There are so many people in this world, that as soon as one dies, one is born.....do you think that is the same soul starting over? Its a possibility.

I was born Athiest. Then Baptised and an attempt was made to indoctrinate me. At 9 years old my logical mind decided that these Christian people were nuts. The justifications and rationalizations necessary to believe in a deity seemed to be intellectually irresponsible.

As Sir Richard Dawkins says: "We're all Atheists when it comes to Zeus or Orion. Some of us just go one god further."

Good question! Im egar to know why people are athiests as a catholic myself.
I guess from a unreligions point of view its problem because most people especially children see it as 'uncool ' and its like believeing in santa claus strange example. Some athiests believe bringign children up into a religious background is mental abuse.
Theres many reasons why people are but then theres many reasons for me to believe in God :)

No, but one of my best friends is. Each of us has choice and instead of condemning someones choice, I choose to accept that others have a different view. It's called mutual respect, some Christians and some atheist on here would do well to learn it as well as earn it.

Because I use my Intellect : I read, learn, understand, find evidences (historical, scientific, antropologic, linguistic and archeologic) which lead me to Knowledge, ergo (it means therefore in Latin;) to the Truth. Mankind has been edowed with Intellect in order to use it and understand and learn, with eyes in order to see, with ears in order to hear; Atheists use all these features and through different levels of awareness get to the Truth; choosing to become an Atheist, means choosing to be free and aware, and to protect Mankind from slavery.

Because there is no evidence for a deity of any kind. However, religions have a vested interest in people worshiping, namely money.
