No. I wouldn't take that to be a sign.
Do you desire the work? Do you understand what it means?
There are many different manifestations of the same gift, you know. Meaning, a man may be called to be a pastor(teaching) or a Sunday School teacher(same gift).
A minister's "job" is a calling indeed.
You are on call 24/7, yes, even on your day off, if someone needs you, you go. In the middle of the night the phone could ring. Next thing you know, you're off to the hospital where a church member's child lays dying from a car accident. Be prepared to know what to say. Funerals are not fun, especially if you knew the person since they were in your preschool. And people know when you're giving a warmed over sermon, so come up with something new every time.
Ah, the sermon. You have a week to produce a good sermon which will touch the lives of every member that hears it. Chances are, next week they won't remember what you said last week. You must be ACCURATE, and all within(usually) a very short amount of time. The hardest part about homiletics isn't knowing what to say, it's trying to determine what to leave out!
You are also in the position of being an administrator,(not a delegator) but God has a way of putting the right people in the right places! A Pastor cannot do it alone. It would be a certain burn out.
I knew a few ministers that still didn't have anything on Sunday morning for the sermon! Their week was tied up with the business end of the church, and a few emergencies...
that's the way it is. But not always.
Much, much more is expected of you than I could write.
At the end of it all, the end of the day, you thank God for being able to serve Him, and there isn't any other "job" you'd rather have. Even though the pay is sometimes not so good.
Of course, if you're bi-vocational, you'll have some money, but then, there's no way you could adequately serve your congregation.
It is indeed a calling. And if you enter it in the wrong capacity, you probably won't last. Make sure of your call.
A good way to determine this is if others have seen that "something"in you. It can't be hidden.
Take care.

Many signs and wonders biblically speaking were done away in 1 Corinthians 13, when that which is perfect came, that which was in part was done away with.
We are to be full time Christians. That is what living for Christ is all about. We are all called to be children of God, whether we accept God's invitation is our choice. Being a minister is a wonderful thing , and if you have the Bible knowledge and the talent to spread God's word through his Church, then you must use that talent. As a woman I can still teach, but not usurp authority over man in the worship services. We are all capable of serving God...We just have to use our talents for the Lord. Full time Christians. (not just Sunday, go to worship service, Christians)

Well there are many ways you can help God while on earth maybe you could be a missionary, pastor, church leader/elder, volunteer at soup kitchen, prison missionary and etc. I would pray and read the bible and consult with a council of your peers, parents, elders etc to get their opinion as well as self-reflection on what you would like to do to serve the Lord; what is your strong points.
Hope this Helps,
Ben

If God was truly calling you to the pulpit you would know it.... you would not need to come to YA.... There are other "ministries" you could look into... become involved with your congrigation.... if you do not have a church Home then you are clearly not being called to the Pulpit... you then need to find a Church Home... If you have one then get involved in the activities of the church... find the area where you do your best and follow that path as far as God leads.

Not an easy question to answer. It could also be a sign you need to be in therapy. It is a clear indication that you need to talk with your minister and some trust Christian friends and see what they think. A board like this is no place to get spiritual direction to make a final decision like this.

Not unless you know God well enough that He calls you into the ministry.

I definitely think that if you feel the want to invest time in reading and seeking God then by all means at least try Bible College. =)

Human beings are now capable of discovering religion for themselves. There is no more need for priests or ministers. Just investigate the truth for yourself and encourage others to investigate the truth also. If you are truly interested in the Bible, you should also investigate whether the Qur'an and Baha'i Writings are true.

Hello MGG,
I am certain that if you are as interested in GOD as I am you are a Christian and are searching the scriptures daily to be sure that what you do is what the scriptures say to the letter. I believe that Penny Mae has the best answer that I have seen so far. PLease be sure to read what is written by all and check every answer against the scriptures to see that what is said is True to them. I am a Christian from Ohio and I would be glad to speak with you at any time about the scriptures. I am not a preacher but I have preached a few sermons when I am able to do so.
To become a real Christian, we are told that we must HEAR the WORD in John 6:45, Jesus said, “It is written in the prophets, And they shall all be taught by God. Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.” We are also told so in Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. We are told the we must BELIEVE in Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. We are also told so in Mark 16:16, Jesus said “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” and in John 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. We are told that we must REPENT (or turn from sin) in Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Also in Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent. We are told to CONFESS CHRIST in Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. We are also told in 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. We are to be BAPTIZED according to Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” and Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. We are to CONTINUE to be FAITHFUL UNTIL DEATH according to Revelation 2:10c Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. We also know that Paul wrote in Romans 14:12 each of us shall give account of himself to God. It is important that we not ignore what is written, change what is written, or add to what is written in the New Testament which is our Christian Guide. Have a great day!
