I heard you can straighten your hair at a salon. How much does this usually run? Or what's the next best thing I can do on my own at home?

Thank you all for your answers! Some of you mentioned that there's a solution I can buy that acts opposite the perm solution. What is the name of it?

oh my...i had a perm once and hated it!!!! i didn't go to school for two weeks...i went to a salon to get it straightened. she told me all they do is use the perm solution and comb it through the hair and leave it on the same amount of time as directed.

If you got a curly perm, the only way to truly get rid of it is to cut your hair. I had a bad perm experience in High School myself!!

You could also have a "relaxer" put in your hair, which is sort of the opposite of a perm. Ladies of color usually get their hair relaxed to remove the curlyness/kinkyness so they can wear it straight every day.

Depending on the length of your hair, this could cost you around the same amount as your perm, or maybe a little less. I'm just not sure whether it's a good idea to relax permed hair tho...it might fall out or something....you should check w/your hairdresser.

And then there's also the natural way to get it straight.....with a flat iron! What you wanna do is wash your hair, and then blow-dry it straight with a big round brush...then once it's dry, use a straightening product (there are a variety of kinds you can use both from the salon & from the drugstore), section off your hair and straighten it out in pieces. This will definitely take you some time!

Oh my god! Please don't do anything chemical right now! You should wait at least 2 more weeks before doing anything that drastic! I used to work at a beauty store and I know all about crazy hair situations... You're best bet is to use smoothing products and even flat iron your hair until it grows out a bit more. You could also try blowing it out... It will be a lot of work but in the long run it's less damaging... Trust me, I had to chop all my hair off and it took over a year before it looked good again!

You could use Large rollers to soften the look while it relaxes naturally and save your hair the stress or go to a salon for the reversal treatment which can cause scalp burns and hair loss and still cost upwards from $100 for the effort. Good Luck!

WELL ALL MY CHILDHOOD LIFE I ALWAYS HAD A PERM SO WHEN I GOT OLDER I DECIDED THAT I DIDNT WANT I T ANYMORE SO I WENT AHEAD AND BOUGHT THE PERM (THE CHEMICAL USED TO PERM IT) AND DIDNT USE THE ROLLERS SO WHILE I HAD IT ON I WAS BRUSHING IT AT THE SAME TIME AND ONCE I WASHED IT OUT AND DRIED IT IT LOOKED LIKE I HAD NEVER HAD A PERM IN MY LIFE. SO YOU SHOULD TRY THAT IT WORKED FOR ME AND I HAD ABOUT 8 YEARS WORTH OF PERMS DONE TO ME.

i've never had a perm but this is what i know...get a straightener on it - which is using the same chemicals to get a perm but you don't use rollers. the only problem with that is "burning" your hair. putting your hair through too much where is weakens the hair and can burn it or dry it out. compariable to dying your hair too much and how it can ruin your hair...same concept.

I had a perm tooken out, and a salon did but that was many years ago. I would check around. but to do it yourself , I wouldn't or you can try to just keep washing it. the more you wash the looser it gets. good luck.

you will possibly desire to not get yet another perm, its somewhat undesirable to your hair, it's going to make all of it straw and chop up, you will possibly desire to positioned on a wig, get a hair piece it is curly, extensions by an exceedingly solid guy or woman, or only wait. you will possibly desire to positioned your hair in a pony tail, or you will possibly desire to positioned on a headscarf/hat.
