Iraq War had contributed nothing really. Contrary to what G W Bush had been feeding the people all along, that losing in Iraq will make it a safe haven for terrorism, I really don't buy it. Terrorists can choose any country in the world as their safe haven. It doesn't have to be Iraq. Let me put it this way: A smart thinking terrorist who wish to carry out an attack on American soil would never consider Iraq as his safe haven at all. There are lots of American troops in Iraq and any terrorist will have more difficulty in evading capture if they'd chosen Iraq as a safe haven. The terrorists will be constantly under attack and will always be on the run in Iraq. Terrorists simply consider Iraq as one of the scene of their battles, but it doesn't mean that their higher command structure need to be based in Iraq. The terrorist planners will surely be drawing up their plans of attack on American soil from another country, where they can organize and prepare all their plans carefully, free from distractions and harassments. Iraq is clearly not the logical choice for doing these.

The United States has captured or killed a vast majority of alQaeda's leadership, we have disrupted their communications systems, we have destroyed their ability to organize and plan major terror attacks, we have virtually eliminated their training facilities in Iraq and Afghanistan, we have cut off all of their overt transfer of terror support funds, we have made major progress in rebuilding the people's infrastructure, we have initiated and placed a democratic government elected by the Iraqi people themselves, in short, we have effectively prevented them from orchestrating another complex and well organized attack such as occurred on 9/11.

These things have come at a high price - but most probably at a much lower price than if we had continued our policies of inaction as we did in the past. Hopefully, the far left will see these dirt bags for what they are and realize just how important a victory in this war is for the United States.

We can hope.

Its a place where we can tie down Al Qaeda militants and engage them in open warfare. The general idea is to try and defeat them as an organisation so that they are incapable of another 9/11 or Madrid style attack. At the same time they are all too willing to engage American and British forces on Arab soil because Muslims fear and detest the idea of another Crusade. They hate our sense of freedom and consider us infidels for not subscribing to Islam. So as long as our soldiers are in Iraq there will most likely not be another attack on the scale of 9/11 in Europe or North America because their priority right now is to get our forces out of the Middle East. Unfortunately, that doesn't stop other nut jobs who have no links to Al Qaeda from having a go themselves such as the crackers who bombed the Underground in London.
