No, there are Atheists in every level of education. Although the ones with education know why. Smugness is an individual trait that can be found in anyone, particularly those who follow a belief system that looks down upon all non-believers.

Gotta admit, most of them on here have a tendency to brag about how very intelligent they are, but that intelligence never seems to manifest. Must be the invisible type of smarts, huh? So yeah, I'd have to say you're right, but only about the rabid atheists on YA, there are real ones who do actually seem to have brains and don't spend all their time posting rude comments on YA.

No, you did not use a big word. There are no prerequisites for being atheist, other than the basic lack of belief in deities.

That's not really a question, just a transpicuous insult.
Besides, one of the most smug individuals ever to live is Ann Coulter.

Education helps, so does intelligence, an independent mind, healthy thinking and thats about it...
Smugness is more often found with those who 'know' they're right because their holy book says so.

Well, atheists usually have a good education, and to the uneducated, someone who appears smarter than they can be perceived to be smug...and no, you didn't use a big word.

Education is important for rational thinking. By education I am referring to a varied coursework as provided by a proper, government-backed school system. The one-sided, religion-saturation crap that home schooled kids receive doesn't count.

Yes you used a big word, so what ? Why did you ask such a question ? It's not too difficult to count the letters.

No. Anybody can be an atheist. The only prerequisite is a lack of belief in a supernatural entity.
