Look into Autism Society of America(ASA) online, and it should tell you how many autistic people there are in the U.S.

Hard to tell really. It has gone up 70% in the last 5 years alone! They suggest millions are afflicted. However, I persoanlly believe that they are misdiagnosing since the qualifications for being autistic are all over the board. They don't always have the same symptoms. That each case is different. Now that may be true, but I think that many of the small children they are diagnosing maybe have sensory issues and need to learn how to adjust. Some seem like they just need to be controlled more by their parents. More behavioral then mental.

I saw a newspaper article that says "more than half a million." There are five types of Austism Spectrum Disorder or Pervasive Developmental Disorder. !. Autistic Disorder. 2. Asperger's Disorder. 3. Rett's Disorder 4. Childhood Disintegrative Disorder and 5. Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified. I work for a mental health agency.
