Another thing you can do is actually purchase fresh pears from a local grocery store (which is inexpesive). Pears keep very nicely. Since you are having a fall theme, you can sugar coat your pears so they look frosted by mixing egg whites and water. Dip the fruit in the egg white/water mixture then roll them in sugar and let them dry. When setting up for your reception, stick some of those mini steel or brass photo/place card holders in the pears with the table numbers attached. This would look nice accented with fall leaves.

Get actual pears and slice tops and slide the printed table numbers in the pears so the are held by the actual pears. Very inexpensive...
Or get little easels that you can buy at craft stores and just rest your card numbers on the easels.
Another idea on pears is use quilling technique (rolling paper on the end of a fine point) and create a long strip that has the table number written out "Five" then hang that paper on the tip of the pear steam.

You can get those picture holder things....I can't think of their name, and they are hard to describe, but I will try. Usually it is a heavy-ish block with a sort of metal wire sticking out the top with a clamp on it and you put a picture in it....but in this case you could make cute # cards and clip them in...does that make sense? I looked on line but can't find a pic of what I am trying to describe...
You could also use a pear at the base and stick a wire in the pear and have the number on top of that...that would be cute!

You could make it so your tables aren't numbered per se, but are just as easily recognizable. There could be a 'Pink' table all in pink linens and flowers etc, and a 'white' table, and a 'blue' table, and so on... Or you could use a motif. Do you have a theme? If it is beach for instance, you could do 'sand' 'sea' 'starfish' 'sanddollar' etc. with each table adorned in those things. The idea is to make the tables stand apart using one element and 'name' the tables accordingly. This way, they will be visually more apparent as a specific table instead of having to 'number' them

I used these adorable wooden table card holders. They go along nicely with a fall theme. You can make your own, or you can purchase them from http://www.designedathome.ca. They do custom wood projects, so you could probably request pear tree wood!

Do not buy the ones you are looking at go to a crafts store like AC Moore or Michael's and buy the pears they have there for floral arrangements-Much cheaper and just as nice. you may wind up spending maybe 15.00 if that. Good luck with your wedding and your marriage.

How about getting fancy fake leaves at a craft store, the kind with wire in them. Then you could bend it into a nice shape, cut a little slit in it and tuck the card into the slit to stand at the angle you want!
