close, genetically, to Adam, right? I've read that close relatives smell bad to each other to discourage incest, and the problems it causes. How would they be able to tolerate each other long enough to go about the business of *ahem* founding the human race?

Out of necessity comes action.

And tolerance of BO. They figured they screwed up the tree thing, they better not cop out of that populating the world thing.

Its my belief that the bible is not to be taken literally. Of course, if you do believe in a literal interpretation of the bible and all the miracles performed then it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to assume He made sure that Adam's olfactory glands weren't running on all cylinders to, therefore, counteract the "bad smell of incest".

Of course, incest was rampant in Jesus' time and before...and after...and still today. I imagine that in order to get the world started from just two people, its was key NOT to discourage incest at first. Hence, the "bad smell" of genetically similar people may have been an evolutionary development, arising from the fact that once there were more people, one finally had the option of choosing a better smelling mate!

Maybe, Adam and his future generations didn't know any better and they thought, geez, women...smell...bad..period. He didn't even realize that Eve smelled bad because she was his sister--he simply thought ALL women smelled bad...

we just don't know. And that's what faith is all about.

I agree that adam and eve were very close and their kids got married to each other to run the humran race. It had to be this way to start the race.

Well, who said that close relatives smell bad to each other... I know this is wrong....I think its the other way around...If you go to pub everyday you wont feel anything [which proves that they place you visit /or the person you see everyday..does not smell bad] on the other hand if you go to pub and you dont drink or visit you will feel terrible [happend to me - that means a stranger may smell different or worst than siblings]. They have made these things up to make us avoid certain group of people.

I dont see any reason that prevent to do the business of *ahem* my dear, it was nature.. their attraction to each other made them get kicked out of heaven.

You may not agree with my answer but I wrote what I knew...thank

Do you "smell bad" to yourself? That is how it would have been with Adam and Eve. They were truly "one" in a sense that no one else in the human family could ever say. Their immediate descendants were so close to original creation and its perfection that the "pheromone problem" probably did not become an issue until much further down the line. "Incest" as we understand it did not become forbidden until much later when The Law was given.
Hope that helps.

Eve would have been a clone of Adam, minus that little difference on the X Chromosome. They would have kept producing clones until mutation kicked in.

I have no idea if close relatives smell bad to each other or not, but genetically speaking we are all very close, the difference between us and trees genetically is minuscule, so imagine how "close" we are to each other.

Where did you get your info from for the above assertion? (I am not saying 'you are wrong'; I want evidence (a second witness) to support the assertion). The lack of discernment presently in this country (USA) is one of the things dividing 'Christianity' presently.

That's a really interesting thought. I've never heard of that but I think I'm going to research it. And just think ... people would rather believe that we descended from a couple of inbreeders than we evolved quite magnificently from other life forms. Weird, huh?

You need to read better books. No one smells bad to their sibling. Siblings who have been separated have had relationship until they discovered the problem.
