It seems that it's the pedestrian's responsibility to be aware of their surroundings, despite having the right of way... what say you?

I think it's a silly idea and people aren't going to listen. What police officer is going to chase after a kid wearing an iPod while crossing the street instead of going after someone who stole an old lady's purse? It's stupid.

Well, the gov't/state try to take away our rights day by day. SO yeah I could see this happening, but you ever look around in the streets everyone is in like a daze, minding their own business, and walking in front of a taxi with the way they drive would be bad, You cant blame it on iPod though, I think its stupid

However, its kinda like driving with cell phones, it started in Jersey and it was horrible. They just might do something, but its only music, you're not focused on talking-ur just walking w/ music on your way to whatever

That's why I moved away from the People's Republic of New York. By the way, don't settle for the Democratic People's Union of New Jersey either.

man,

It seems if Big Brother has to step in and regulate the use of these devices, it is because there've been enough instances where folks put themselves in danger because they were not responsible enough to jam so that they could hear oncoming traffic...sirens, etc...

It's truly a shame...and folks who act stupidly are the ones to blame.

I wonder about enforcement...
