Yes and no.
Currently religion is one of the most obvious differences between cultures. Since religion is one of the things people are most passionate about, it is a recipe for trouble. Religious wars go back centuries. That's what the Crusades were all about.
That being said.
Here's the no. If religion did not exist, people would just find something else to fight about. Peoples' differences is one of the primary cause of fighting. Now it's not the only cause of course. There's always environmental causes such as famine, and there's always the mad emperor.
People will always have something to fight about. Right now it just seems like religion is the main cause.
If there was no religion, would the world be better? Possibly. Would it be alot better? doubtfully.
It comes down to human nature, not religion.

I believe colonialism is the cause of the majority of the world's problems. Religion was a partial driving force behind colonialism, so it is somewhat guilty by association, but the positives that religion has done all over the world far outweigh the negative effects of those who misuse it. Colonialism on the other hand is the cause of everything that is going wrong in the world today. If the European powers treated the people they colonized in Asia, Africa, and the America like human beings rather than sub-humans, things would be alot better.

religion seems to be the main cause of most wars- rather more like the clashing of religions that has caused most wars. seems to be either clashing of views or money. one of the two is always fueling hatred in some group.
one religion views God as an entity that only cares for one specific religious group and all others should be "purged". Others see God as all loving. Total left and right winged. Because of this we can't all just get along.

Not religious belief as such, but how it's interpreted, manipulated and misused. Quite a bit of suffering and mayhem has been perpetrated in the name of Communism, too, you know. Then there was Attila the Hun, massacring whole villages, raping women, castrating boys, all to his own benefit. Baptist soup kitchens and the Red Crescent can hardly be blamed for the world's misfortunes.

No religion as nothing to do with man greed. Man greed is what causes a lot of conflict and problems of this world and whatever world man takes over.

Religion is the reason for most of the world's fights amongst ourselves, but that is only due to extremist views of their religion, for example, Osama Bin Laden bent the scriptures from the Koran as a way of getting people to follow him and attack America. Though I have nothing against any religions, it is true that because of our beliefs alot of our fights occur.

I think that man decisions in general is the reason for all world problems, for every action there's a reaction.
Some religions probably brought lots of problems also, but that comes from man decisions.
God didn't created religions, men did.
God created men, and teached us faith in Him and His Words (Bible).

You are trying to form a consensus from people who believe as you do. A more logical and practical question to ask would be .....Is Disobedience of God's Laws (Commandments) the cause of the world's problems? And why?......Because..... SATAN HAS DECEIVED THE WORLD!!!

Because it promotes irrational belief and intolerance of those with conflicting beliefs, no matter what said religions claim on the matter. One religion states the other is wrong and vice versa, and encourages evil or irrational acts in name of said religion.
And Christian93 "many (not all) non-Christians think alike. "
It's because we're right minded people who question our own beliefs and the beliefs that people try to impose upon us.
