i often see women using this as justification for not paying their way on dates in the begining of a relationship

they will say "if i asked for the date i would pay for the date"

heres the fallacy with their arguments

women, virtually NEVER ask for dates, especially early on in the dating sequence, so who always pays?

i always offer to split even with my boyfriend..but it's appropriate for men to pay for the first dates and we women will think that you are really interested in us...but after that, i prefer to take turns whenever we have dates....emancipation is the word...and it starts from that

It's true women ask for dates much less often. BUT whoever asks for the date SHOULD be prepared to pay for the date. Afterall had you not asked there would be no date. You could try asking them to split but after asking them out you will probably give a bad impression by asking them to pay.

When people are regularly dating they sometimes take turns or spilt the bill and that is fine too. As for the first date though...if you ask be prepared to pay. (Some girls will offer to split)

This whole thing needs to be "reworked". I have never really agreed with the whoever asks pays. I might just want some company but that doesn't mean I wish to pay for your food. I have always thought that each person should always be prepared to pay for themselves.

If I was going out with a new guy I would offer to pay, but would expect him to say no. I think guys should suck it up and pay for the first few dinners or movies, it makes you look good and girls like to feel important and that they are worth spending a little money on, once the first few dates are over then yes girls should pay sometimes too.

im taking my man to a movie tonight! :-)

THIS IS SO TRUE!!! I am a woman and i think that you should take turns..I hate it when couples go on a date and expect the man to pay..listen ladies if we want equal rights to everything else... paying for a date once in awhile is one of them!! Good question!

I am an old fashion lady who thinks the guy should pay HOWEVER my current beau will say I would like to go to the movies and would love for you to go with me but I am a little short on cash would you mind paying for yourself. It is no big deal as long as you get it out there before you get her to the theater and say "Hey babe wanna go dutch?" If you do that and get dumped it is for your utter lack of tact not your cheapness factor.

If you want to get to know her- isn't a dinner worth it?
I always insisted on going 'dutch' when I went on dates- that way, if I didn't like the guy I wouldn't feel like I owed him anything more.
A good person will always offer to pay, but if you ask- you pay!!
