I would pack my husband a sandwhich for lunch. Something with deli meat and cheese. Plus, some carrots and fruit. I also include a few sweet things like cookies (just a couple) or a slice of cake.

Campbell's has those soups to go now... they are ok every once in a while.
Whenever I cook, and I know I have to work the next day, I try to make enough so that I can take some to work with me. Most times I have plenty of leftovers and I go ahead and pack up a lunch while I am straightening up the kitchen. You have a microwave so this would work for you too ;) Very inexpensive since the food was being made anyways.
you could also make your own deli sandwiches, wraps, and salads.

I usually pack anything left over from the night before since we have a microwave. If you don't have a microwave I guess your limited to what you can bring (nothing hot). Fruits, veg. sandwiches, unless you like cold pizza/chicken. If you have a really good thermos, you can try can goods i.e. soups, spaghetti's. (Hope you have a fridge) then of course you can also do yogurts as well as something to drink. TV dinners work too.

I think most people work an 8 hour shift - if not longer - 5 days a week. That being said, I always try to bring a lunch.
Left overs from the night before are good and fast - no cooking twice! However, if you're one of those who refuses to eat left overs, sandwiches, canned soups, pre-packaged salad mix, cheese and pepperoni trays from the store... they all work well.

There area lot of good suggestions here already so I'll add:
a small avocado & some cooked shrimp
a roast beef sandwich on a nice roll w butter
some turkey and cheese sandwich
a thermos of soup and some crackers and cheese
a tunafish on rye with lettuce, tomato, and some carrot juice to drink
a big piece of cake!
a couple of sandwiches from whatever was last night's dinner ... and 4 or 5 cookies.

yes I would bring a lunch
sandwiches
(sandwich meat is not very healthy and expensive - roast beef/pork/chicken then make sandwiches with the leftovers)
salads
fruits - packing whole fruits such as apples and bananas are cheap and easy way to keep from getting too hungry during the day
granola bars
cottage cheese (I like pears mixed in)
pretzels
Do you have a microwave?
leftovers
frozen dinners (cheaper if you make yourself)
soups
stews
etc

Tuna or turkey sandwhich are cheap and healthy. Cold chicken or a slice or two of pizza leftover can be better than the first serving. Hard boiled eggs are quick and cheap as well. Maybe a potatoe to microwave.

Depends if you can use a microwave there or not. Looks like your basically stuck with sandwiches. Put some of your favourite soup, hot into a thermos. I like cold pizza also. Fresh fruit, salads, but if you can nuk stuff, then there is no limit.

When you have left overs bring them and heat them up so you have a full meal.. this way if your really tired when you get home you can grab a lite snack. Then switch the next day to maybe a samwich and cup of soup, so you wont get tired of the same things....Pay days a good day to splurag abit, order out..Pizza, chinease etc.....
