Okay dokay...
*Sort out your scheme. Colours and theme.
*Find a venue and book it.
*Sort out your stationery. If you are getting married in summer month it makes sense to send out a Save the Date card (this means that all those you wish to be at your wedding won't book a trip away). The Save the Date cards need to go out as soon as you have a date. Your main invites need to be sent out approximately 8-10months before the wedding day. The evening invites need to be sent out approximately 3months before your wedding day.
AS SOON AS YOU KNOW DATE, BOOK THE FOLLOWING:
*Book a florist. You don't decide anything until approx. 2 months before wedding but you need to get one reserved because a florist will only do one wedding per day so you need them to be booked for your day. A deposit will be required.
*If you need wedding cars, get them booked. You will need to pay a deposit. You can finalise details a few weeks before the wedding.
*Book a photographer. Again, a deposit will be required but details won't be finalised until a month or so before your wedding.
*Book a DJ or music or evening entertainment if this is required.
*Book a cake company. Pay deposit. Finalise details nearer date.
*Book a videographer if one is required.
*12months before wedding start looking for your wedding dress. You need about 8 months for it to be ordered and altered etc.
*12months before wedding sort out bridesmaids dresses. You will also need to get them shoes, hair ornaments etc.
*12months before book honeymoon.
*8months before find wedding rings.
*6months before wedding, find mens suits. Get all the men measured and order the suits.
*6months before, book yourself and bridesmaids into hairdressers for hair trial.
*6months before, organise a make-up artist if you require one.
*6months before, find your shoes, underwear, hair pieces.
*6months before, decide on gift list provider - and go to see them to organise your gift list.
*2months before decide what you're having as favours and organise.
*1month before buy gifts for wedding party.
*Last few weeks finalise details.
I know this seems like such a lot to do, but it is so worth it... don't rush anything, take your time and it will be the most amazing experience of your life.
Of course there could be all sorts of other things that crop up that you want that make your wedding more personalised. We had all sorts of extras. The above list is jut the basics.
You ever need any help or advice or ideas just mail me xx

I would start with all the bridal magazines that are around, everyone will have a planning and budget guide in it.
And don't forget all your family and friends who are already married. The best source of information to any bride is word of mouth. They have already been through this and know how much work a great wedding takes.
Why not have a 'Married Woman' Party! get all your married family and friends round, open a couple of bottles of wine and get a pen and pad. You'll be surprised how much this will help you.
Congratulations and Good Luck

The knot.com is good, but I really like this book my mom got me...it's called the complete wedding guide. It not only has teh lists, but also information on HOW to do things (catering, flowers, DJ, etc.) It's AWESOME!!! If youcan't find it, it's usually by the "dummy" books.

I think that there is a book on this subject, also books on best man's speeches etc. Ask at your local bookshop. As far a wedding dress, try a charity shop or local dress exchange. Ed.

I found this planning checklist on line http://www.weddinglenox.com/advises/Wedding_planning_scheduling.php.
You can also try their matching system http://www.weddinglenox.com/membersignup1.php that will match you up with local vendors. I tried it and have good result as I only recieved email from vendors according to my request.
One problem I had with my wedding is that it is hard to locate vendors in most website as most likely they group by states and there are too many of them that's too far from me and I have to look at each site to figure out.
The sites I provide above have a easy to use layout to show you pictures, pricing and location in one page plus, you can send out your inquiry for matching vendor to contact you. That save me lots of time to locate the best vendors with the right price.

www.theknot.com is one of the top sites to go to for brides planning weddings. Or you can visit your local bookstore for books about planning weddings.
