I don't believe repentance is what you feel. It is a change in thinking...to re-think, or think diffferently. As Socrates might say...the worst sin is ignorance. Real knowledge of God will change a person...and that is an everlasting change. The result is to be closer to God, and so heaven as well...since being with God is heaven..so hell is just a ....summer school.

This is more of a personal preference question. I tend to do both. I'd love to say that all the time that I'm truly sorry but this is not the case. More often than not I'm fearful for the consequences.
Sometimes when I truly feel that I've hurt someone or hurt God I do apologize and feel genuinely bad. I hope this helps.

If a person is a true Christian, with all their heart and soul, and they have sinned, they will have God's spirit with them. If their hearts truly belong to Jesus, they will not repent because they are scared of going to hell, but because they love God so much and they know that every time they sin, they make God deeply sad.
If the Christian has a very close relationship with God, they will want to repent in order to mend their relationship.
Just like if you deeply upset a very close friend, and you apologize and will do anything to gain favor from them again, not because you are scared of what the friend might do to you or of what might happen because of what you did, but because your love friend is so great that you would not want to see them hurt, especially not because of something you did.

Hell is a manmade concept After death there is a paradise and a prison. The paradise is where people go who accepted christ. The prison is where those who never learned of christ or who weren't ready to accept him. There they will be taught by angels. This will be while there are still people on earth After this there will be the Second comming Then the Millinium where those with christ will teach those in prison. Then Judgement day, here you will be placed in one of three Kingdoms. The Celestial (where God lives) The Terrestial (didn't live bad lifes but didn't try to hard either) The Telestial ( Fought directly against God ) Then outer darkness (not a kingdom, where the sons of perdition and lucifer will be cast to. )

Well this is a very good question.. first off I worship God with all my heart. I repent becuase I love God and because to keep from going to hell. To get to heaven..here is a bible verse for you. Acts 2:38 Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remissions of your sin and ye shall receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost.

I think a little of both... I find myself moved to tears when something really, really good happens to someone. Even during a movie... I get all choked up when the guy gets the girl, or when a child is found, or when the people are saved. It is because of these uncontrolled feelings that I know that I am an inherently good person. It makes me feel good when something good happens to somebody else, and sad when something bad happens. I repent because I am not out to hurt others, and I am sad when, because i am not perfect, I do hurt others on occasion. I ask for God's forgivness, not for a clean slate to dirty up, but because I know that I F-ed up and harmed one of His children. At the same time, I am a God fearing Catholic who was taught that if you F-up enough, without asking forgivness, you may burn for eternity for it. But I know I won't go to Hell, if there even is one, because it genuinely makes me feel good to make others happy.

First off, God knows what is in our hearts. If we do something bad, and don't really feel sorry for it, and try to ask forgiveness from God, I believe God won't accept it. God knows if we are truly sorry about something. If you truly feel sorry for what you did, God will know that and grant you forgiveness.
To think we can walk around creating havoc, and causing problems for others, and then just going and praying and not really feeling sorry it is really irrational. God will forgive the truly repentant ones...
God knows all and sees all.

Some things we repent so we do not go to hell but also because we love God, and we are sorry. Some things come naturally with love, and we are sorry.

I repented because I truly love God, if you don't truly love God and change your ways and believe in HIm, you could repent everyday and still go to Hell....you have to fully believe and accept Him as your saviour..

Great question, I for one do not repent as I believe God made me as I am and if I step out of line, he'll understand I'm only human. As for Fundies, they're probably just covering all the bases.
