When I get new lenses, I am more aware of them. They have not had time to form to the eye yet.
You will find that in time, you will forget about them. Keep rewetting drops with you.
Oh, you may not want to try colors yet. When they are new, contacts tend to shift so if you have colors, you will eally notice it-lol!
AND, whatever you do, DO NOT USE VISINE!!! My eye doctor told me that the product is so harsh, it can strip the color from colored contacts. So, just imagine what it does to your eyes.

I started off with daily disposables and had the same issue - I was aware of them all the time.
I now use the ones you leave in for a month and they are just great. They are thicker and more durable, but they also allow more oxygen to pass through so prevent your eyes from drying out too much. They are also produced in more shapes so tend to fit your individual eyeball better. For example, I need toric lenses for astigmatism and the daily ones were not produced (back then) in that shape.
They are so comfortable that I have to write in my diary when it's time to change them cos I often forget I even wear them.
Plus, the month long ones are cheaper than the daily ones. I pay £15.50 per month at Specsavers.
Go back to your optician and tell them you're not happy with the current prescription and want to try something new.
I hope you can find a type of lens that suits you, because I would never go back to glasses on a regular basis.

I've had contacts for just over a year and I went straight into wearing 'continuous wear' lenses. They can be worn for sleeping in as well. Daily lenses do not allow as much oxygen into the eye which is why you will be feeling stickiness in heated rooms. Your eye-balls do actually sweat so it's unsuprising they will feel a bit uncomfortable in the heat with restricted air getting to them. I think the key is perseverance, you will forget them eventually, I never think about mine anymore. Also make sure you are wearing the best lenses for you. If you wear your lenses regularly why not consider monthly or continuous wear lenses which will feel a bit lighter.

You will eventually get used to them, unless they are just the wrong kind for you. I discovered early on that I cannot use the color-tinted contacts, and just have to use plain vision correcting ones - as the ones with the added tints would continually irritate my eyelids. With heat, there may be some dryness that will dry your eyes and contacts, and for me, allergies sometimes interfere. However, I prefer contacts to glasses, because my glasses had always irritated me. I am always messing with them - making sure they don't touch my cheeks, etc. (I am slightly obsessive with them and hyperaware of my glasses.)
It is a personal thing, really. Give them a chance for a couple of weeks if you can. Hopefully everything will work out.

Mine are great - extremely comfortable. Most of the time I can't tell i'm wearing them.
EDIT
I have the monthly ones though, not the dailys. I did read somewhere once that they're basically the same thing though. Maybe cos your wearing a new pair each day your eyes don't quite get used to them. Maybe try monthly's before you give up. or just try a different brand- some are definately better than others!

DOn't forget..it may depend on your age. If you over 40 then your tear layer is starting to dry up (DRY EYES ....normal part of aging) If your eyes are dry then any type of contact will be a little harder to wear and you'll be aware of them. Try contacts made for dry eyes such as PROCLEAR lenses and use preservative free artificial tears for comfort. Turn heaters and air conditioners away from your face so they don't dry your eyes out more.

I learned to ignore it. Make sure you have a good saline solution and your hands are clean when you put the contacts in. You might have sensitive eyes, so the saline solution could be an irritant. I got used to mine after being hyper-aware of them. Try using Visine for contacts when they get sticky.

Give your eyes a month to get used to them. I've been wearing contacts for years, and the only way I can tell if they are in is to look at something I can't see without them and check that way. I can't feel them.

I found them very easy to get used to, they were very comfy. I could see even better in them than my glasses. They give you more confidence when out with your mates etc. I wouldn't ware them for more than 6/8 hours unless they are soecially made for all day ware etc. I bought the ones where you get them delivered to your house with the solution, for a small monthly fee. Good Luck

I never could get used to contacts. They always seemed annoying in my eye. Worse, they are a pain to put in and take out, and much too much work to maintain.
I gave up trying myself, and just settle for nice glasses.
