I don't have hope "after death". Death is death, the end of life. Just as natural as birth, just as acceptable. What am I supposed to hope for, that I will survive it? "Surviving death" is an oxymoron. I hope that when I die, I will have left something worthwhile behind, even if it is people who remember me as having been a good person. That's good enough. Life is beautiful, it's all I need.

Why would I or anyone need hope after death? Death is part of the natural cycle.

What occurs after death is irrelevant. It is like what occurred before living.

You live for here. You live for now.

You can worry about death when you're dead.

P.S. 3 comments down: I can only hope that you'll change your mind before you go dellussionally into your grave.

See how annoying it is for people to try to "hope" stuff on you that you don't want?

If you have lived a good life, who needs hope after death? Death is inevitable...or as the pig always said,"Th-th-th-that's all folks!" If you have lived the life you most wanted to live, then you can face death with equanimity and poise...rather than pleading and snivelling on your knees the way so many theists meet their end.

Some atheists do not normally hope for anything after death, because they do not believe in an afterlife, while others do !
I'll explain. Please patiently read this. Thxs.

Actually, there is one thing that I hope for:
That the memories others have of me are peaceful, happy memories. Memories which encourage others, building them up, helping them to believe that they are always loved, and always more than able to accomplish anything they set their hearts and minds to do. Memories which them to believe in themselves.

Many of the thoughts, conveyed to us through words & deeds, as well as their plans, and memories which they communicated with us while they were alive, always remain Alive within us. Therefore our loved ones actually, in this respect, are always still alive in us.
Think on this: when a dear loved one passes away, we miss them, but we still hear their loving, and most encouraging, uplifting words fresh alive in our minds, throughout our lives, if
we quiet our minds down enough to really listen. Why else do we still have conversations with others, about our loved ones, who have passed away. Because they are fresh, and alive within us, that is why.

I hope I was able to answer your question with satisfaction. Through introspection we can put ourselves into anyone's mindsets {into their shoes, without critisizing them). We all need each other in the human race. People need, and most definately want to be understood, introspection, helps us to understand others - and to clearly see things, people and situations are they really are. Optimistic attitudes provide people with the happiness and peace of mind which they have always longed for.

Thank You so much for your Excellent Question

Have a fantastic week and weekend.

And yes, I am an Atheist. One who cares
about all people, without negatively criticizing them, harshly judging them, or condemning them
*(Jesus taught people to do this in Matt. 7:1-5 in the Amplified Bible, as well. It is encouraging)
Thank You again, for your Question.

P.S. - even your bible says, "The Memory of the Righteous is blessed." Proverbs.
Yes, some of us, do read the bible, and many Philosophical books. That scripture means according to the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the King James Bible, that
the memories others have of us when we pass on, are blessed memories, as a result of the lovingkindness, compassion, mercy, Patience, Tolerance, wisdom, and the experiences we have shared with them{those who now miss us because we have passed away).

Optimism toward others is always the way to Go. We all should have a humbly teachable attitude in life, learning to always forgive those who have harmed us in any way. This helps to bring us, peace of mind as well.

Because you hope something is true or real makes it true o0r real? I hope that I win the lottery.....it doesn't mean it's likely to happen. I fear death. I think fear of death is what motivates all humanity to strive for better....and this includes religion.

after death? Well, I'll be dead then, so I won't worry about it.

Do you realise your question gives away much of why you have a need for a god, or rather, the promised afterlife that comes with it? Why do you worry about death so much?
