I bet your DMA mode went from Ultra DMA, to the very slow PIO.
Very easy to check, and fix if you need to.

You might also want to pull up task manager to see if you have a program hanging and using up memory. I had one take 2 hours to encode and burn because MSN messenger was not responding, nor was it exiting out of the program. It sucked up a ton of memory but after I ended the process things went backt o normal. So check Task Manager (ctrl+alt+del) and the processes tab to see if anything is using more memory than it should be.

How much stuff is loaded in the ram while you are running it?, tell you what, look on Microsoft's website for a 'clean boot' for your OS, then run it. you'll have to put it on a floppy and boot with it, it'll keep all your startup software from loading while it's booting from that floppy, then all your RAM and CPU will be open for DVD Shrink. Your probably getting low on RAM (aka too much loaded in memory).
