One of my favourites is to make burritos: just brown the meat in a frying pan (I like to spray the pan first with Pam or add just a tiny bit of vegetable oil to prevent sticking), then add Taco seasoning. Fill soft tortilla shells with the meat, add Colby/Monterey Jack cheese and Mexican rice, plus whatever vegetables you like and wrap it up.

I also make meat sauce similarly: brown the meat in the frying pan and add a jar of sauce, especially if I don't have the time to make my own sauce. This is fabulous over pasta (you can use the sauce, mix in some ricotta, and melt some Mozzarella cheese over it in a casserole dish for a "poor man's lasagna") and also makes great bagel pizzas.

Also, try to use the best beef you can find for the best dishes: "ground beef" is not what you might expect. It can be anything the store can fit into the grinder. Spend the extra dollar and look for lean ground chuck or sirloin - you will taste the difference and it is much healthier for you!

Bacon Cheeseburger Pasta.

Cook 6 slices of bacon until crisp. Drain on papertowel.
Brown 1 lb of ground beef with some chopped onions. Drain.
Cook a 12 oz. box of pasta. I used mostaccoli noodles.
After the pasta is cooked add it to the beef.
Add the bacon to the beef.
Add 1 can of tomato soup and mix it all together.
Sprinkle with 1 1/2 c. of cheddar cheese and cook til cheese melts.

Its awsome and easy!

a good recipe for tacos is to saute the ground turkey with evo, chopped onions and pine nuts. add taco seasoning as the turkey begins to brown. sometimes i throw in some crumbled goat cheese just for kicks. use small (preferably hand-made) tortillas and top with lettuce, diced tomatoes, cilantro, cottage cheese, and whatever else your heart desires. its quick, easy, healthy and very tasty. a restaurant quality dish made from ground meat.

the quality of any dish made with ground meat will depend on the seasoning you use. go to the grocery store and explore the seasoning packets aisle. there are recipes on the backs of the packets and many options to choose from. use ground turkey. its more versatile and its healthier. you can do a lot more with it because it is lighter and simpler. it will take heavy seasoning like beef, but it can also be used in more subtle dishes.

I suggest "Taco Soup" - it is so good and easy to do in a crock pot. Brown about a pound of beef or ground turkey with one chopped onion. Drain. Add to the crock pot (or a big pot) with:

I large can tomato sauce
I large can diced tomatoes
I small can tomato paste
I can green beans
I can yellow corn
I can black beans
I package of taco powder (Mccormicks, Taco Bell, whatever)

Mix and heat for an hour or so. Sprinkle bowls with shredded cheese and sour cream, if desired.

You can basicially add any canned veggies you like to this dish and it comes out wonderful! I suggest using the "No salt added" canned vegetables, because you get enough salt from the other ingredients.

Stuffed Peppers are great, use Red ones, not Green. Cut in half and mix the ground beef with a cup or two (to taste) of shredded zuccini, fresh garlic, mint leaves, olive oil, and a cup of cooked rice.......then stuff the peppers and cover with nice canned imported italian tomatoes. Use Cento if you can get them. THen bake it up for about an hour, add some goat cheese to the top and bake for 15 minutes more.
You are gonna love it.

My all time fav is to add the meat to a jar of spaghetti sauce and serve with angel hair pasta, top with grated parmesan, and some kind of bread ( french bread, or garlic bread, or even a dinner roll ), and if I'm really hungry I'll have a salad before.

Shape your ground beef into hamburger patties (probably should have a lightly beaten egg to help bind it) and then marinade it with soy sauce and garlic:) Broil/grill it to desired doneness. Yummy and simple!
