Stop wearing ponytails so much the band causes breakage! The only way to rid of split ends is to have them cut off! Have your hair trimmed once a month (hair on average grows 1/2 an inch per month)! Also try using either the Nexxus or Redken Line (personal preference)! In the Nexxus line try Therappe Shampoo or Theratin, Emergencee, and Keraphix Conditioner! I will post links to the product detail! Or try Redken Extreme Shampoo and Conditioner! You need to obtain elasticity (which your hair is lacking) Keratin and Protein are the vitamins your hair is feigning for at the moment... NEVER blow dry hair without using a thermal protectant spray! (try Kenra thermal protectant spray... It has a great hold factor)! Make sure when you are having your highlights retouched that they aren't pulling the color formation all the way through the cold strand and that they are only applying it to the outgrowth (this also will prevent breakage and excessive damage)! Don't use Cholesterol I hate that sh*t... When I was in beauty school we always did mock colors on manikins using cholesterol vs regular color! It is very thick and hard to rinse out! It was once a highly recommended conditioning treatment back in the 80's and earlier on (now no stylist would put that in your hair)... We only use Cholesterol as a protective barrier from perm solution (applied on the skin all the way around the hairline to prevent chemical burn)!!! BTW you can't unprocess hair you are still using a process to remove the haircolor (color remover which is an alkaline compound and very damaging to hair... It is removing pigment) so it is still a process it is just removing the underlying pigments your hair contains (stripping)!

The hands-down best advice you'll ever get is to have your ends trimmed once every 4-6 weeks. Other treatments like deep-conditioner, hot oil, or cholesterol will help, too. But, no topical products will help at all if your ends aren't trimmed regularly.

You didn't mention your ethnicity, and that makes a huge difference. At the risk of sounding shallow, I'll keep it simple: if you are African-American, or have hair texture similar to that of African-Americans, you MUST moisturize regularly (in addition to keeping those ends trimmed), if you have long hair, don't wash more than once weekly, and try not to blow dry too often. The healthiest style for AA hair is a wrap.

If you wear ponytails, try not to use rubber bands or any ponytail holders that aren't covered in cloth. Be sure not to make them too tight (because then you'll have a different problem: receding hairline). And, at night time, take the ponytail out and cover your hair in a silk scarf or cap.

But, like I said, no advice will work if you don't keep those ends trimmed every 4-6 weeks.

well, highlighting your hair is damaging it by stripping it.
pony-tail holders, no matter how great, break the hair off when you pull them out.
eventually, your hair will start to be damaged and get split ends anyway, so you need a trim.
my hair was so damaged from dying it and not trimming it that i just had to start with a blank slate.
i had my hair "unprocessed", which consisted of 3 hours of gently taking the dyed colors out and then dying a gentle color onto it to cover the uneven layers. it was too damaged to do any highlights...i have to wait two weeks and give my hair a break.
i also had to cut it from about 4 inches below my shoulders to way above.
its a lot more healthy now
you just need to give your hair a break. about 2 or 3 weeks after a cut or trim and you can go back for the highlights.
plus...hair grows somewhere around 3 inches in the first 10 days after cutting it.

Well you should get a shampoo & conditioner for damaged hair, and you should be careful about how much you get your hair highlighted b/c that is very damaging. For your split ends, you need to get them trimmed, regularley, like every 6 weeks or so. Don't wear your hair in a pony tail! Find a cute style for you that is centered around your face.

Oh, this is a hard one! But solvable.

First your damaged hair! Have you ever heard of pantene pro-v? They make one that has a golden fridge, and helps damaged hair. And remember that to much washing of your hair can be bad for your follicles! I know. It sound weird, but trust me. So if you can take a bath every other day.

And your terrible split ends. Well, after a while, your hair at the ends.... well, kinda dies. So it gets all frizzy. You still with me? Don't worry. Your whole head isn't going to get that way. But I have a solution! And nice trim around the edges should fix it right up! Ususally a half and inch is good enough.

I really hope this helps!

Hair can be very frustrating am I right?

Getting a trim is the only way to get rid of split ends. Conditioners and products may temporarily mask them or make your hair feel smooth, but it's not a permanent fix. Even if you're growing your hair or trying to maintain length, you must get regular trims. Split ends, if not cut off, will only keep splitting up farther. Also, if it seems your hair isn't "growing" anymore, it's probably because the ends are splitting and breaking off.

A Good Hair Cut.............
Consult your stylist for the best treatment for your hair.

But my suggestion would be let your hair rest for a season of
30 days , no lites or blow drying use the best product for the type of hair that you have rich in vitamins and nutrients always purchase at least (2) shampoos and conditioners.

You cannot repair split ends. You will need to have your hair trimmed instead. You repair actual damage to your hair, use a leave in treatment in instead before blowdrying and while at the gym or beach.

cut off the damage, take multi-vitamin with biotin and b complex, keep ur scalp very clean(shampoo ur scalp even if u dont shampoo ur hair), use a shampoo and conditioner that incourages circulatio to the scalp (tinging is a good sign) find a good hair oil and serum to massage into ur ends before u blowdry, dont blowdry everyday (or not at all would be best)

If you have a Sally Beauty Supply in your area, they sell this tub of stuff called Cholesterol. It's a super-duper conditioner. It might not completely fix the problem, but it may help to keep it from getting any worse.
