I'm looking at purchasing a deep fryer for my office. How can I dispose of the oil when I'm done with it?

Pour it in the toilet and blame it on someone's bad diet.

You really should only need to toss that oil when it becomes too icky to use. In fact, the first time you use your oil your fries or whatever will not brown as well as it will with oil that has been used a few times. Allow your frier to cool and you can strain or skim off any large pieces left behind the cover and store for the next use. When you want to change or oil and you can actually add to the original oil sometimes, you can pour the cooled oil into any leak proof container and toss it in your trash or pour it into your driveway. As stated never pour down the drain! Good luck with this since you sound very new to this deep frying thing.

For all those who say dump it down the drain - I wish I was your plumber - he's got to make a killing off of you! Dumping oil or grease down the drain is one of the stupidest things you can do - aside from dumping uncooked rice down.

If you have to dispose of a small amount of grease (a Table spoon or less) use plenty of HOT water, and lots of dish soap. This will help break down the grease and flush it down the pipes. Anything more, put it into the trash bin.

I don't personally use oil, but Crisco. This allows for easier disposal. I can just scoop it into an old coffee can, or soft butter container, and then drop it into the trash.

I also wouldn't suggest putting it into the compost. Only because in the summer, the grease will melt, creating a huge sticky mess - worse than the compost already in there. Plus, if you're going to fry meats, they don't break down as quickly.

Good luck!

You can cool it, pour it in a jar or can to dispose of it.

If you pour it down a drain you need to run really hot water when you do and let the hot water run for awhile. I wouldn't do that often though.

You can also strain it through some cheese cloth into a container and store it in the refrigerator. You can reuse the oil 3-4 times within a couple of weeks unless you fry something really strong in it like fish.

Peanut oil is ideal but canola oil is more practical. It cost a lot less than peanut oil although peanut oil when kept clean will last quite a long time. Whats more the oil will take on a flavor of it's own. The Chinese take home stuff is all peanut oil based in the dishes but canola is used for chicken wings and eggrolls. For deep frying I would go with canola.

First of all, unless you are in real good with a plumber, NEVER put oil, cooled or not, down any of your drains. That is a sure way to clog up your pipes. I like to keep my old butter containers(3LB tubs) anyway, so I just let my old oil cool and put it in the butter container then just toss it in the trash.

Let the oil cool down and pour in a empty coffee can cover with the lid wrap in a plastic grocery bag and tie, and throw it in the garbage.......

DO NOT pour it down the drain. This is the fastest way to require a plumbing visit. I put all my used oil in empty wine bottles (using a funnel), cork them and throw them away.

You can either dispose of it by pouring it down the drain with hot water, or you can reuse it after you strain the particles out. Another way you can dispose of the oil is by pouring it out into a garden or lawn, the natural composition of cooking oils is very environment friendly and acts as a very good plant food.

Convert a diesel engine to run off oil. Then power the car with your used frier oil.

Pour it into a large mouthed jar, toss in garbage. Or save big plastic coffee cans and pour it in there. Then toss.
