Actually science doesn't have to change it's theories to accommodate new evidence. Most theories can be adjusted to accept new evidence without much trouble. This creates a problem of adjudicating between theories. Thomas Kuhn's version of this problem (in his book "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions") is called the "incommensurability thesis" and his example is the transition from Newtonian physics to Einstein's. The newer model is called "underdetermination of theory" by Quine and Duhem.

Science is based upon evidence, observation, and experimentation. As new evidence is discovers, new observations are made and new experiments are made possible, it is necessary for the results to change. If they had all the answers, there would be nothing left to discover.

Religion is based upon old books, oral traditions and faith. Instead of making new discoveries, religion seeks to fit everything into an existing paradigm, and ignores or misconstrues that which doesn't fit. They assume they or their god(s) has all the answers, and thus lack the motivation to discover.

Sure it does. New religious evidence just doesn't come about that often.

An example of a religious progression: Idol worship, monotheism, judaism, christianity, islam. Just like there are scientists who are total nut jobs with wacky theories that don't make sense, there are religious leaders who will lead entire populations astray. Nonetheless, religions change as new information is revealed.

Religionists would argue that is the PROBLEM with science, it's always changing what it calls truth.

They would argue that their ideas are eternal and unchanging because they derive from God.

Just being Devil's Advocate here....not that there is such a thing.
