I think you may have the type of personality that is overwhelmed for to long in the company of others.. you may be like me, and need more time to yourself, away from to much of this kind of activity. . you are essentially detatching from the environment, when you feel like you are not really there. . this is a way of protecting yourself from being overstimulated, and overwhelmed... which is extremely anxiety producting. .and causes your mind to do this. You may need to take time away and recharge. If you don't feel this way when you take time away for yourself, then my guess is that this is it. One thing this means is that you do best with small doses of being in a room with other people... you are most likely a very sensitive kind of person.. and I am guessing you may have artistic tendencies in your personality... honor this. . don't fight this.. and give yourself the space you need to feel free and together in your mind. . it seems you may have introverted tendencies. . while some others are extroverted... there's nothing wrong with this.. everyone is different.. I've found that that I need a medication called zoloft, to help me with this social kind of anxiety.. it has been a godsend..with no side effects. . It has helped with my shyness, and also with being able to study, watch tv, and other things without zoning out... If I stop taking the zoloft, for the social anxiety you are talking about, it comes back. This is also used for things like post traumatic stress syndrome. . which just means some kind of emotional event from the past, that has changed the way your body handles stress in certain situations.

I have had this for years, but it has improved with time. The doctors put a label on it like 'panic attack' but I think it is a childhood trauma that has been blotted out. Medication helps and also talking to someone about your feelings. You should go and see your GP. Remember it is not life threatening, just very frightening at times. I really do sympathise with you.

See your doctor immediately, the symptoms you're describing sound anxiety related. Do the responsible thing, seek medical attention at once.
Sometimes the depression and the anxiety grab hands in the psyche and need to be pulled apart and treated medically.
Go! See about yourself.
Hopefully someone can travel with you to the doctors or hospital. Best wishes.

I am exactly the same although I must admit that I kinda think mine is due to a period of drug taking a few years back. I am okay unless I get anxious and then as soon as I am aware of it I cannot seem to get 'back to reality'.
The only thing I can suggest that I try is to distract yourself and to be calm..try breathing exercises..and try to do things to make you feel comfortable. Hope you manage to sort it out

I agree with CHERI, it may be your way of retreating from those around you because you have anxiety and you feel that you must be there. If you feel okay when you are by yourself this is it.
You might need more time by yourself. Some people requre more time alone for recharging than do others.

It is a sign of depression. You have "gone within" as my friends would say.
Think about going and talking to someone.

Please go see your doctor...and if you are on any kind of drugs...please try to stop it..otherwise you will go further out of space. And when you return to the real world, you won't be able to cope...and then it will become a vicious circle for you.
