i brought my dog in too see the vet 1 weeks ago for a comperhensive exam. The found his white blood cell count was low, they are going to do a test again in 6 weeks. I did not get to talk to a Dr., they were busy but the gal at the front desk did not seem that alarmed. the dog is seems to be completly healthy, what dose the low white blood cell count mean?

a low white blood cell count could mean anything from sever infection, toxins, drugs (is he on any type of medication?), primary bone marrow disease, to stress or some sort of congenical immunodeficiency disorder. best thing to do would be to talk to the vet and find out exactly what's going on and what the possibilites are. all these possibilitises are dependent upon what type of white blood cell is low - most likely, however, it's due to infection, but the next blood sample will be able to tell.

good luck!

Can mean there is an infection. Did they give you anything for the dog?
But you have another issue here. That being the vet did not talk to you. I don't care how busy they are the vet should talk to you! Were me, I'd find a different vet. When you take a pet to the vet you have a right to talk to the vet about the test results. Very poor on the doctor's part!

I would talk directly to the vet as soon as possible and ask many questions. It could be nothing or it could be a sign of something very serious. Good luck

A couple of things come to mind. But you should talk with a vet. And I do mean a vet, not a receptionist.

Good luck.
