Understandably, you must be hurting quite a lot. I've seen 3 major break-ups before and I must say that they were not easy to get by; but these experiences sort of gave me an insight into things which I feel may help somewhat.
One particular break-up I had, actually lasted a whole year! Yeah; her name was Valerie, and we actually took a whole year to get over each other, during which she called me and went out with me as often as, if not more often than when we were still going together. I was not willing to let go either. I would try to stay away and not call; then the phone would ring and my heart would melt when her voice came across the wires. (ha ha) I can laugh about it now, but I can tell you it was a year of hardship, tears and passion. Something I would not recommend to anyone.
Anyway, some of the stuff you can do is this; (a) don't try too hard to forget. You really have to remain cool and not push yourself. Just be aware that you are in a pretty vulnerable emotional and mental state. So don't make too much demands on yourself; (b) stay close to the ones who love and accept you as you really are, and who are not too nosy, and not ask too many questions. These ones could probably support you the most. (c) do what you love to do, skiing, dance, write, read, head out to the movies; (I went skinny dipping once at night, swam out to some yachts anchored 50 m from shore - you should try (beware of big fish or sharks). (d) when you're hit with "down" times and you're tempted to be down or remain down, use this as a trigger to activate all the good and happy thoughts of your bf. After all, you did share some great times. Then use this as a platform to think of greater and better things for yourself.
Cruise along and enjoy things and enjoy life; you have your whole life ahead of you, and whatever has happened has probably made you a better person.
take care, cheers and God Bless.

I went through something like this no too long ago as well. We dated for 4 years (in and after high school), and broke up when I went to college across the country. It's tough, but I think the easiest thing is to try and get back out there. It seems so weird not to be able to see the person you've spent so much of your time with, but there are others. And, in my case, the person you find after going through a tough break up is much better. Your next relationship will be better if you use the stuff you learned from the last one. Good Luck.

Match.com...the best way to get over someone is to get back out there and start meeting new people. It may sound harsh but it's true. Plus, when he realizes you aren't staying at home crying over him, he may realize his mistake.
Good Luck!
