guys that are like that do have an emotional side to them but they dont want to show it because they need to show that they are the man. They have to show there strong side

Well let's not generalize (i don't think it's all guys any more than I believe that all girls are emotional).
Some guys (the true manly ones) are not afraid to show there emotions.
If you feel secure enough why should they hold back their emotions.
You are definitely dating the wrong type.
Emotions by the way doesn't mean they cry, it can be displayed in a number of ways (compassion, fear, love, affection, happiness etc.)

I believe that it has alot to do with a guys relationship with his father. I think most guys have a father or father figure that is "Gung Ho" and never really talked to their sons about how to express their emotions verbally. They learn to deal with things through sports, hunting, music, or some other outlet rather than talking about it. I was lucky that my dad always told me to talk about it, don't bottle it up, which in most guys is the case. They bottle it up and are too "Proud" to express emotions verbally, even to the one(s) they love the most.

Because our culture ridicules such behavior from men. That, in turn, makes them less desirable to a large majority of women. The line between "emotional men" and "wimps" is very thin so most guys stay as far away as they can.

Most guys like to act macho and put up a "I'm a man" front,but believe me we are all soft on the inside.I have seen the toughest men cry and not be ashamed about it.
