Did you know that the NFL does not allow out of home viewing on larger than a 55'' screen besides sports bars?
Fall Creek Baptist Church was denied by NFL officials of having a "Super Bowl" party because they were going to show it on a 12 ft screen.
Below is the article in the Indianapolis Star:

Did your church have a party on a larger than 55'' screen?
What do you think of this article?
Here are the Rules as stated in the Article:
NFL PARTY RULES
For groups that want to host Super Bowl parties -- other than sports bars and businesses that normally show televised sports -- here are rules the NFL says must be followed:
• No admission fees (even to pay for snacks).
• Only one television (55 inches or smaller).
• No use of the words "Super Bowl" in promotional materials.
• No exhibition of the game in connection with events "that promote a message."

The church is not a partyplace?
And you wonder why people think church is boring? Have you ever thought about having a party in the name of Jesus?
The church building is not a temple. Our bodies are the temple. The building is just a facilitator to all that we do as Christians. Better have people watching at church then in bars? Plus it helps create a family atmosphere.
Yes some comericals are inappropiate and this year there were fewer then normal. But we as a Church shun those things.

That's so ridiculous. I want the job of auditing churches for the NFL when party rules are broken! (not!) My church back home voted whether or not to show the game that was on (this is Chicago, so da Bears... ya know) on New Year's Eve. The pastor had the sense to realize that people would be really late to watch night service because they were trying to watch the end of the game. I was going to stay home, so I didn't care, but I voted YES along with the vast majority, so they showed that game and the church has 10,300 seats! I bet the NFL would just LOVE hearing that one.

Last year, because of who was in the Superbowl. And because it didn't conflict with the evening service.
I am not sure what size the screen is. It isn't illegal to see the game in a group on a big screen with no commercials. Last year we put our church ministries on for commercials. And the people weren't charged for anything except a pop for a quarter, or a hotdog for a quarter, etc.

I think it is stupid. Money loving jerks making rules about how people watch a tv?? Who really cares? They're watching it, why does the size of the tv matter? They still get their mega millions from the advertisers. How can they regulate the purchasing of snacks?? How do you advertise a Super Bowl party without using the words Super Bowl?? How lame.

My bar showed the game on a big screen. But I didn't go or watch.

I don't understand why any church would allow football to be watched during the time that they are suppossed to worship the one and only true God. To me this is showing disrespect for their God and is telling their one and only true God whom they are suppossed to put above all else including football that the Superboawl game is more important that he is. Do Christians really beleive this honors their God by either postponing evening worship so people will not have to miss church for the Superbowl, or by having a footbal party during worship time?***

No, it is a church. Aholy temple not a partyplace where we go and watch people curse, yell at each other, people act so horrible to each other and especially watch beer commercials. That is one of the saddest things to do to your church. I will remember you in my prayers
