I am having a pasta feed for my daughter's soccer team. I will keep the sauce hot in a crock pot. I want to cook the pasta in advance, but have it hot when the team arrives after practice. I will be using angel hair pasta.Any advice?

I only have 2 large pots to cook in and need to cook for 18-20 teens--are two dutch oven type pots big enough? That's why I wanted to cook in advance.

It's a bad idea to pre-cook pasta.
If they are coming to you house I would either cook it on the spot angel hair doesn't take long at all.
You could undercook it a few mintues and leave it in a colander and rinse with hot water. This will remove the starch and the sauce mostly likely won't stick to the noodles.
If the sauce is piping hot from the crock pot I would think it would warm up the noodles without have to heat them.

You could have the water hot on simmer. That way it would not take long to bring it to boil. Then cook the pasta, your talking maybe 15-20 minutes. With angel hair maybe less.
And like the one above. If the sauce is pretty hot it should warm the pasta some. But, at the same time is would also cool it down some.
Personally it's best when it is cooked fresh and it is fresh hot.
One thing I have done with cold pasta, place the cold cook pasta in a colander and pour boiling hot water over it and let it drain a minute. This will warm it up some.
Which for your gathering would be a lot of extra work than just cooking it so it is fresh hot.

My first advice would be to choose something other than angel hair, as this is a very delicate pasta which begins to break down rather quickly. But if you feel strongly about the angel hair, I'll tell you how to proceed for best results. Prepare your pasta ahead of time, cooking it only until it is ALMOST done, Toss it in olive oil while still hot ( this will keep it from sticking together) and refrigerate immeadiately. This is nice because it allows you to prepare the pasta as much as a day or two in advance. When it comes time to serve you have a couple of options. The best being to have a second crock pot full of salted water just as hot as you can get it. If you go to a reastaurant supply house, you can buy a plastic silverware caddy. Place the pasta one serving at a time in the caddy, and place it in the hot water for about a minute. Your other option is to place your pasta in a large pan, add just enough water to cover bottom of pan, cover with first plastic wrap, and then foil, and bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes. With a party like you're describing, I would greatly advise a more sturdy past rigatoni or penne for example. Good luck whatever you decide. Oh, and whatever you do ignore the people saying mix the pasta and sauce as with angel hair you are asking for it to turn into one big clump of barely edible glop bearing little or no resemblance to pasta.

It only takes 5 mins to cook angel hair pasta. I would advise waiting 30 mins before they get their and boil your water and than put the pasta in while they are starting to show up. After the pasta is cooked ruin it under cold water so it doesnt stick. Good luck and have fun. You could also put the pasta in with the sauce.

Angel hair pasta shouldn't take more than 3-6 minutes to cook. I'd just dook it upon their arrival and toss it with a little pasta sauce to keep it from sticking if you don't want to serve them pre-mixed. Otheriwise it can get starcy, sticky or mushy - yuck.

Keep a smaller water glass, which you have to refill often, instead of a big water bottle on your workspace.
