Contact lab breed resue for your area. They will usually take all labs and find good homes for them. The spca should have the number for the local members. You can look at AKC.org and Next day pets they will also show you some of the breed resue organizations. Last resort there are no kill shelters you can ask the spca about them. Dont be aferaid of the SPCA they will help you place your dog. I do lab rescue in Connecticut burdick labradors.com. If you have time put an ad in the paper or go to the local feed store and put up a flier. I place many dogs that way.

She's a black lab? Full bred? You should definitely be able to find her a home. Put an ad in the paper. Usually puppies at Humane Societies get chosen first, especially black ones and especially full bred ones. You probably shouldn't worry too much.
Also, what about a family member? So you can still see her.

Yes, the best alternative is to return dog to breeder for adoption and/or contact Labrador rescue. Please do not offer her for Free if you really want her to go to a good home. I've been involved in rescue a lot of years and there are folk who scan the papers etc for "free" dogs, spin you a wonderful tale, take your dog and sell it research labs. They get 30-50 bucks depending on the size of the dog so a free dog is pure profit and not the end you desire for your dog. And if someone can't afford even $50. for your dog how can they afford her shots, food etc??? People do not value what is free.

Put out an ad for a free lab puppy-trust me someone will want her. And then you also get the chance to screen the homes she'll go to.

Contact a Labrador rescue center in your area or a 'no-kill' shelter. Also, find out if there is a Lab club in your area & they can direct you to one of these. You may also run an ad in your local newspaper as "free to good home" & carefully check out the prospects. Good luck!

Look online through sources like Petfinder.com for a good rescue. They often foster dogs in home and are more highly motivated to place dogs in good homes.
Advertising a puppy for free often encourages people who really shouldn't have dogs to come calling and your dog might end up in a worse situation than if you went to the humane society.

Well, for one thing, pure bred dogs have a higher adoption rate out of shelters than mutts do. Also you can try www.petfinder.com, you can find links there to labrador rescues that can help you out. And you can put up flyers at your local pet stores and vet's offices. Sorry you have to give her up, but glad you are taking the responsibility of finding her a new home.

Advertise in the paper.
Google "Lab Rescue" There are groups everywhere. Find your nearest one and contact them. They have volunteers who take care of the animals until a permanent home is found.

Did you ask the breeder is she/he can take the puppy back? How about posting an ad on petfinder classifieds or a lab rescue group?
