For every slide, you click the Design button from the formatting toolbar

- Choose the template you want for that one slide.
- Move the mouse on the template you want, but DO NOT click yet
- Click the down arrow
- Click "Apply to selected slides"

And your done

Your question is unclear. To apply a template should be under Format - but that will apply 1 template to the presentation.

If you are trying to connect 7 presentations, all with different templates you do not have to jam them all into the same file - I would make a kind of hyper link on the last slide that you can click and then open the next presentation. I screen sized box with no fill or line color works great for that, very often.

You can insert new Master Slides into your presentation from the slide master view, choose Insert -> New Master Slide, but I am not sure that is exactly what you are looking for.

Peace!

right click on the slide then click on background and you should then be able to choose how you want your slide to look.
