Theoretically, they're to help boost the body's immune system and ward off colds. In reality, they boost the manufacturers' and sellers' bank accounts.

To help prevent colds, echinacea and goldenseal is good too, its a natural antibiotic.. Equally as good as vitamin c, which is cheaper by the way and more pleasant to take.

It is supposed to be a natural inhibitor for colds and flu to build up the body's resistance. Also, a sort of natural antibiotic like garlic.

The verdict is out as to whether it actually works or not.

Remember these over the counter herbal remedies are not tested nor endorsed by the FDA and there is no standard for the ingredients of the capsules or tinctures.

They have been proved to be pretty much worthless --- it was used as a cold remedy, but articles have appeared in enough papers to regard the stuff as worthless nostrum, and maybe even harmful.

They are good for colds
but you have to take Vitamin c and zinc with them
and you should take them on an on/off basis
Never more than two weeks in a row

They are supposed to help prevent colds .I prefer 1000 milligrams of vit. C a day,everyday year round.

I take them when I first feel like Im getting the cold, and they stop it. Theyre great.
